𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚 More of us are falling out of contact with family and friends. It affects how we are cared for — in life and in death. If we die alone, what do we expect to happen to our bodies? Cities across the globe are challenged by the phenomenon of residents dying unnoticed and dead remaining unclaimed by next of kin. On 15 October, together with the UvA Maatschappij & Gedrag, we welcome University of Amsterdam anthropologist Kristine Krause, Pamela Prickett (sociologist and author of 'The Unclaimed'), and international and local experts Sally Raudon (Social Anthropology, University of Cambridge), Mika Toyota (Max Planck Institute for Human Development) & Joris van Casteren (De Eenzame Uitvaart) to SPUI25 for a fascinating and timely discussion on the global issue of unclaimed deaths, specifically in New York, Tokyo, Japan, Los Angeles and Amsterdam. 📅 Tuesday 15 Oct ⏲️ 17:00 - 18:30 📍 SPUI25, Amsterdam 🔗 More info & registration: https://lnkd.in/e-JqCT_H #unclaimed #deaths #loneliness #dyingalone #eenzameuitvaart
