250kg CO2 captured at Delphy! 🌱 🚀 Skytree’s Cumulus is actively participating in Delphy’s innovative pilot project focused on cultivating peppers using fossil-free heat. So far, our Cumulus Unit has been operating since September and has captured more than 250kg CO2, aiding the pepper's growth in a controlled environment. While the project is ongoing, these initial results highlight the potential of utilizing captured CO2 to boost crop production and decrease reliance on fossil fuels. We look forward to seeing how such innovations can lead to more sustainable practices in horticulture. 🙌

🌍 Stop wasting renewable energy. Use it to capture CO2 from the air. As the world races towards a low-carbon future, we're producing more renewable energy than ever before. But there’s a problem: too often, this clean energy is simply wasted. ❌ This summer, In states like California in the US, and parts of Germany, the supply of wind and solar power exceeded demand, leading to curtailment — when renewable energy production is restricted or dumped. This is where Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology can play a crucial role! Instead of losing valuable energy, we can use it to capture CO2 from the air and supply green CO2 for industries in need — like controlled environment agriculture, food & beverage, and water treatment. The result? A sustainable, reliable source of CO2 that supports decarbonization and reduces reliance on fossil fuels. 🌿 Read the entire Skytree insights piece: https://lnkd.in/gFSsb3s7

After attending the 8th CO2 Value Europe General Assembly and Value Days, we are pleased to see the launch of a 'first-of-a-kind' quantitative assessment of Carbon Capture and Utilization contribution citing that by 2050, Direct Air Capture alone will account for 46% of the 320 million tonnes of CO₂ captured annually, making it a cornerstone in the fight against climate change.🌍 With CCU contributing over 20% of the total technological effort needed to meet climate neutrality goals, these technologies are no longer just an option but a necessity. They will play a key role in: - Reducing greenhouse gas emissions - Producing essential products without relying on virgin fossil carbon - Decarbonizing key industries that are otherwise hard to abate Link to explanatory Video: https://lnkd.in/eBNK4S5f

🥕 Carrots vs Sticks: What’s the Right Approach in Climate Policymaking? A key takeaway from Skytree’s recent webinar, "Industrial Decarbonization: Where Does the Carbon Go?", highlighted the need for a balanced mix of incentives and regulatory measures to drive the utilization of carbon in industrial processes—beyond just sequestration. Featuring insights from experts Phil De Luna, Elena Nikonova, PhD, Jason Hochman, and Jeff Holyoak, the panel emphasized that carbon removal is not an end goal in itself. The major focus should be on incentivizing the reuse and integration of captured carbon into products and processes. 🖥️ Listen in here

53 Companies Unite for a Sustainable Future in Carbon Removal Skytree has joined forces with 52 leading organizations to endorse the Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Industry Commitments as part of the Negative Emissions Platform. This initiative sets a new standard for the carbon removal sector, reinforcing the collective dedication to reinforce meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. 🔍Why This Matters: The CDR Industry Commitments represent a significant moment for our industry, aligning with the scientific consensus that to achieve net zero, we must not only reduce emissions but also remove 5-10 gigatons of CO2 annually by 2050. 📌 Key Pillars of the Commitments: Clear Definitions: Establishing what CDR truly entails and its crucial role in climate action. Commitment to Science: Acknowledging the necessity of CDR in our climate strategies. Sustainability & Transparency: Upholding the highest standards of accountability and adherence to regulations. Public Engagement: Ensuring inclusivity and equity in carbon removal activities. As signatories of these commitments, we are taking responsibility for the growth and integrity of the CDR sector.
