Sickhouse is a playful art space exploring the transformations of our society through digital culture. Interactive art, films, games and music are presented in our physical space or online through extraordinary events, exhibitions, screenings, festivals, let’s play, talks, meet up, research, parties...
Founded in 2018, Sickhouse programs are developed as open research towards The Overkill festival. The interdisciplinary and participatory programs focus on play, experimentation and fiction as stimulators for discussions, connections and empathy. The participating artists and makers are explorators of virtual technologies, using gaming, films, mapping, 3D environment, social media… as their medium.
Playfulness, flexibility and care are what make Sickhouse unique.
The playful character of Sickhouse is reflected in the ever changing set up of our space, offering flexibility for our programs and wonder to our public. The visitors of Sickhouse are invited to express themselves in creative ways, inspired by the high quality projects and (international) artists we present.
Sickhouse is looking for new and different ways of understanding each other, developing empathy and care. Its programs support reflections around identity, collectiveness, techno-ecosystems, our human condition in a world in crisis and in the process of digitalization.
