STRIJP-T TOURNAMENT 🍍 Gisteren stond het jaarlijkse Strijp-T-toernooi weer op de planning, waar maarliefst drie STTLS teams hebben gestreden om de titel. De sfeer was geweldig, de wedstrijden waren spannend en de concurrentie was zwaar. Hoewel we de trofee niet mee naar huis namen, hebben we een mooie teamprestatie geleverd, ons enorm vermaakt, en hebben we weer veel Strijp-T’ers leren kennen. Inspirerend om deel uit te maken van zo’n geweldige community van bedrijven. The atmosphere was great, the games were exciting, and the competition was tough. It’s inspiring to be part of such a great community of companies. We are proud to have participated in the #MEKOPP Project, which aimed to develop a new Photonics Visual Inspection Tool for the Integrated Photonics market 🔬. Production of photonic chips is experiencing steady growth. However, the existing semiconductor infrastructure, though wafer-based, is not always 1:1 suited for photonic chip production. At Settels, we already started projects in Integrated Photonics 10 years ago. Leveraging our knowledge, combined with our experience in sensing and microscopes, we built microscopes that enable the tool to use Artificial Intelligence for high-speed fault detection on photonic chips. Settels Savenije combines research and practice in the MEKOPP project With over 35 years of experience and a team of over 150 professionals, Settels Savenije Group of Companies invents, designs, manufactures, assembles, and tests high-tech equipment, products, and tools for an international customer base in industries like semicon, analytics, and research. Settels also participates in research and development (R&D) projects such as the MEKOPP project, in which they work with other leading companies to realise the efficient and sustainable production of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). In MEKOPP, Settels has developed the project system’s imaging module, which is tuned to obtain sharp images of photonics structures. This has been designed to fit in a novel probing set-up developed by the consortium – with IMS as the integrating partner – and essentially serves as a custom-designed microscope and camera system with two different magnifications and two different means of illuminating the substrate. The imaging module has also been designed so that magnification and lighting options can easily be adapted to the needs of new customers or substrate and coating materials. These will enhance PIC production sustainability, potentially reducing material, energy and water usage. Indirectly, the project will contribute to PIC market adoption and scaling, which are vital for digital communication infrastructure efficiency.
