Back in September, Technology Secretary Peter Kyle announced that UK data centres would be designated as “critical infrastructure”, alongside energy and water systems. This is big news, and it has implications both for data centre operators in the UK, and for the UK’s security community more broadly. So, in this piece, which is the first of our new deep dive features, we hear from some data centre and security experts about what the news means for the security industry, and what the implications might be. Genetec today announced that 22 Bishopsgate is centralising the control of IoT and physical security with Genetec™ Security Center. The software is helping to maximise the return on the prestigious facility’s smart building investments, adding valued for visitors and tenants. Sitting in the heart of the City of London’s financial district, 22 Bishopsgate is a multi-tenanted commercial development that stands 278m tall and comprises 1,275 million square feet of floor space across its 62 storeys.
