Last Friday, July 19th, our IHC Mining team in South Africa partnered with Ladles of Love to celebrate #MandelaMonth with a special initiative. Dedicated to honouring Nelson Mandela's legacy, our team spent 67 minutes crafting toys that promote cognitive development and fine-motor skills for children under 6 years old. This initiative was part of the Ladles of Love Ubuntu World Record, where volunteers dedicate 67 minutes of their time to giving back to those in need. Our colleagues made and decorated Squishy Love dolls and cushions, each completed with a personalised and heartfelt message from the team member. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗤𝗥𝟱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀) 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿® 𝟰𝟱 Philippine dredging company QR5 has awarded IHC Dredging a contract for the delivery of a Beaver® 45. After a thorough evaluation of potential suppliers of CSDs, the Beaver® 45 from IHC Dredging proved to be the most suitable for its first project: the improvement of the Paracale River system. A project that was selected by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the coordinating body for disaster management in the Philippines. The Philippines regularly experiences heavy rainfall, causing waterways to silt up. In order to prevent flooding caused by silting up of waterways, the maintenance of waterways is a high priority in the Philippines. The Department of Public Works and Highways, through the local government, contracted QR5 to work on the Paracale River system in Camarines Norte Province. IHC Dredging will provide project start-up support for an efficient start of the dredging project and our planned maintenance and remote monitoring systems will contribute to keeping the dredger working efficiently throughout the project. “We wish QR5 every success in helping to reduce flooding and are proud that our Beaver® can contribute to this important work”, says Rob Boersma, Managing Director IHC Asia Pacific. #IHCDredging #Beavers #cuttersuctiondredgers #maintenancedredging #operationalefficiency

On the 8th of July, our colleague Edwin de Hoog defended his PhD thesis at the Delft University of Technology and obtained a doctor’s degree. Edwin researched the phenomena that influence the formation of density waves in slurry transport, they are explained in his thesis “Transient hydraulic transport in pipelines – on flow assurance influenced by slurry dynamics”. With these results, Royal IHC can apply new control methods to slurry transport, improving the efficiency of our equipment and reducing the risks of pipe blockage. The four dredgers connect seamlessly to Vale's electrical system, streamlining their operations for maximum efficiency, and recovering tailings in a more sustainable way. 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐇𝐂 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝 We are pleased to announce that we have signed an agreement with the Vietnamese shipyard Nam Trieu for the construction of a 2,300 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger. This project, commissioned by De Boer - Dutch Dredging, marks the beginning of what is expected to be a long term collaboration in Asia. This partnership demonstrates that we are committed to offering our customers a wider choice, which helps to strengthen our competitive edge in the global market. "It embodies our two-pillar strategy," says CEO Derk te Bokkel. "We can maintain high quality standards with lower labour and energy costs in Vietnam, while using our Dutch shipyards for shorter construction times. Our clients will benefit from this strategic flexibility. Nam Trieu will essentially serve as our overseas yard, providing consistency and expertise in our shipbuilding process. "Having a dedicated, experienced yard that is aligned with our operational standards is crucial for long-term success," adds Te Bokkel.
