Sweet Potatoes 🍠 Euro 2024 ⚽ Alert 🚨 Although Spain it not Rola Fresh favorite team (🧡🇳🇱) in the tournament, we love how good the Spanish national team 🇪🇸 plays. We've learned today that the Spanish football team eats sweet potatoes every day to get enough nutrients for the football matches!  A tip that applies to everyone, because a sweet potato is very tasty 😋 and has a lot of nutritious substances 💪 in it!  We are curious to see how well the Spanish team will play again tonight, but if it is down to nutrition, they cannot loose! 💡 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 💡 🔸 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗲𝘀 We still receive Egyptian sweet potatoes of excellent quality every week. We expect to receive the "old harvest" at least until August and will then smoothly transition to the Egyptian new harvest. The new Egyptian harvest will most likely come onto the market earlier (July), but experience shows that the first ones are usually not of good quality and are generally small in size. We also still receive our volumes from America every week. This quality is still very good. We will continue to load as long as the quality allows. We expect that this will be around August because by then the stocks will simply be empty! 🔸 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 (𝗯𝗮𝗯𝘆) 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗲𝘀 This time of year is best characterized by diversity. We still receive French old harvest every day, but also from Israel for several weeks now. Since last week we have had good volumes of Spanish new harvest available and these are simply fantastic. Despite the historically high prices, they are selling like hot cakes! We expect the first French (Provence) new harvest of Anoé in the third week of June.  The main harvest, including red-skinned, from the Beauce area will have to wait until August. 👉 Even though the summer holidays are getting closer, we still have beautiful fresh products for sale every day! 🥔 Market update: French potato 🥔 Good French baby potatoes are difficult to obtain at the moment. Why? This is because a lot of rain fell last spring and summer. This has made it very wet and this affects the quality and shelf life of the French potatoes in the current season. We still have good quality potatoes available every day, but we pay extra attention to quality upon arrival and inform our customers even more than usual about what kind of product they can expect from us. We expect to have product from Israel available in the coming weeks through our French partner Pom'Alliance (groupe NATUP). Due to the political issues, not everyone will want this product and this could possibly result in Israeli potatoes becoming available cheaper than we are normally used to. It is expected that early Spanish production will be extremely expensive. The first new French harvest is exptected to be available in mid-June or early July. Curious what we can do for you? 🍅𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗩𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗦🍅 March marks the start of the Dutch greenhouse vegetable season. But we still expect a scarcity on the market in the coming weeks. 𝗪𝗵𝘆? Spain had a rather warm winter, which means that the plants provided a lot of fruits earlier this season already. That could affect the plants will give considerable less fruits at the end of the season. In addition, the Netherlands just had a very dark February, plants didn't develop much fruits yet, so the start of the Dutch season is expected to start very quietly. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: There is availability of greenhouse vegetables, but we expect less produce and also smaller product in March. This combined with an early Easter this year is expected to ensure somewhat higher prices in the coming weeks. 🔸Sweet potato market update🔸 Have you already read our market update of the sweet potato market at FreshPlaza? Egypt dominated the sweet potato market for the past few months, but recently, supply has been scarce. “There have been high peaks and deep troughs and back again. But as long there's zero regulation of Egyptian cultivation, that will probably always be the case. We had a good quality Egyptian season. That, in fact, improves annually.
