✨💭 Reflecting on the Autonomous Ship Expo in Amsterdam! The expo provided us with an opportunity to showcase our latest developments in autonomy for inland waterways. This year we brought a demo based on real world data from the ferries sailing on the river IJ, one of the main waterways of Amsterdam. 📽️⛴️ Big thank you to Autonomous Ship Expo, Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo and UKi Media & Events for hosting this event, and to Oliver Taylor for the invite! Also thanks to everyone who visited our booth. #AutonomousShips #Innovation #MaritimeTechnology #SustainableTransport #Amsterdam

Issue 55 April/May out now! We speak to Amanda Smith the engineer leading Sellafield’s UAV equipment programme who explains how advanced inspection techniques are being used to keep humans out of harm’s way. Our dossier details the Applied EV - Software Defined Machines™ Blanc Robot UGV, a blank slate on which to build any body structure for any application. We also profile the UAVHE RW1 rotary engines, two supercharged Wankel rotaries, built with the latest CNC machining tech and innovations used for motorsport. Our ‘in operation’ feature’s the Robotican’s Goshawk, we unveil the counter-UAS system, modelled on a bird of prey, which captures hostile drones in a non-destructive way and returns to its Smart Nest. We also learn more about Arkeocean’s UUVs and how a swarm of ULF-detecting autonomous micro-AUVs can be used to guard the oceans and seek out hostile submarines. We discover the CycloTech GmbH Bumblebee 2.0, a unique flight system enabling highly manoeuvrable, compact vehicle designs, inspired by a 100-year-old cycloidal propeller. We digest the Roboat & Holland Shipyards Group and learn how this summer, athletes and visitors at the Paris Olympics will be able to take a trip down the Seine on an autonomous vessel. Our insight into UGV’s explores how intelligent vehicles are being designed for every industry and purpose, from farming to mobility, mining and the last mile. Our investigator has made it back across the Atlantic from the Miami International Boat Show 🌎🌍. Having peeked over the fence, it's interesting to find that the private boating space is starting to implement some autonomous features. 🤖 Bringing back some insights from the latest yacht technology and engaging conversations: it seems assisted docking and some carefree cruising seem to be high on the wish list of the American boat owner. 😌 It was insightful to compare industries and learn that the desires are quite similar! #miamiboatshow #maritimetechnology #autonomousvehicles
