How come the Netherlands has such a strong knowledge economy. Yet, it fails behind in introducing innovative products? Last month, I presented ‘Valorisation in Roadmaps’ during the RegMed XB 2nd Annual Conference. One striking finding, according to the European Innovation Scoreboard 2023, is that The Netherlands ranks number 1 among countries with the top 10% most cited publications (both EU and non-EU). However, The Netherlands ranks number 22 among countries in terms of SMEs introducing product innovations (both EU and non-EU). This gap between knowledge and innovation needs addressing. Valorisation can bridge this gap. By transforming academic knowledge into tangible impact for society, we can boost innovation. Let's focus on transferring knowledge and building viable startups. The potential is there. We just need to harness it.

Additionally, companies will share their entrepreneurial journey. There are two keynote speakers, with the first already announced: Marc van Moorsel, PhD, Director of Operations TargED Biopharmaceuticals. Marc van Moorsel holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Leiden University Medical Center (UMCU), focusing on the development of nanobody-targeting biopharmaceuticals in the field of cardiovascular diseases. In 2020, he co-founded TargED Biopharmaceuticals as a spin-off from UMCU. At TargED, Marc functions as Director of Operations, responsible for daily operations and streamlining processes, with a special focus on legal, intellectual property, (non)-dilutive funding, and human resources. 🌟 It's a Wrap! 🌟 We’ve just concluded two fantastic days at the Annual Conference on Regenerative Medicine. This event successfully brought together the regenerative medicine ecosystem, including innovative (start-up) companies, policymakers, investors, academic pioneers, researchers, and students, fostering collaboration and innovation. Before the final keynote, we had an enlightening session on Internationalization with Niels van Leeuwen Advisor (Inter)national R&D Cooperation Life Sciences & Health sector at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development, Laura Duran Relations Manager at Health~Holland and Brechtje Stallmann Projext Manager Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency. They provided valuable insights on expanding our reach and fostering international collaborations in the regenerative medicine field. We ended the program with a phenomenal keynote: The Future of Health by Lucien Engelen of TransformHealth and an innovation strategist working in and on the future of health(care). His insights inspired us all and reinforced our shared drive and spirit to create sustainable solutions for chronically ill patients through regenerative medicine. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making the RegMed XB 2nd Annual Conference a remarkable success! And to conclude: a big thank you to Health~Holland and Provincie Limburg.
