The science of Digestate treatment   By now, most people know that regenerative farming is good for our planet. And maybe even that the Regazz concept helps making the switch. But what remains a mystery is ‘the science behind it all’, we get many questions about that. We’re happy to share more about that!   Besides biofuel, the Regazz concept generates digestate as a very valuable bonus-product. We have developed specific processes to filter and ‘pre-treat’ the digestate to create maximum value for agricultural entrepreneurs. The Chemistry ‘behind the scenes’ in short: 1.           We compost the organic residual streams, after separation, with these benefits: -   Heat production: We generate more than enough heat during composting. To heat up the digestion process. To provide heat to external consumers. And we ensure additional CO2-reduction. -   Top-quality compost: We create pathogen-free compost of the highest quality, perfect for nourishing your agricultural land. -   Weight Reduction: By extracting water, we significantly reduce the weight of compost. Which makes it easier to take away on transport and to store and spread it on the land.   2.           We produce permeate, which boosts several other processes, such as biofuel-production and healthy digester biology: -   Enhanced gas production: permeate is ideal for boosting gas production from wheat and corn straw, by damaging the protective skin of the plant stems. -  Optimal fermentation: permeate helps managing dry matter and ammonia content in a fermenter. -   Industry and agriculture: permeate is suitable as process water or for irrigation and is meeting strict discharge standards.   3.           Concentrate production - Reduces the volume of liquid digestate by at least 60%. - More nitrogen and potassium in liquid form, ready to use in crops. - Conversion of organic minerals into ‘non’-organic minerals (status chemical fertilizers)   We included all this as a standard in our business concept, because we recognize that digestate contains several scarce but certainly valuable elements to ‘feed’ agricultural land in a healthy way.   With the patented processes in pre-treatment, the reversed osmosis works very smooth and very cost effective. Farmers will save on operational costs and be prepared for the upcoming Renure legislation. And, as said before, it helps making soil, water and crops cleaner and safer. Regazz, a developer of circular biofuel production plants, and Nordsol, bio-LNG technology leader, have announced they will collaborate in the realization of bio-LNG production plants at agricultural sites in Europe. Parties will work closely together to achieve optimized, ready-to-build designs in order to provide farmers with an attractive bio-LNG business case. Regazz has also selected Nordsol to be their exclusive bio-LNG technology supplier. Regazz uses organic residual flows from the farmer – plant residues and manure – as input for the biogas plants. Besides biogas, these plants also produce digestate, a mineral- and nutrient-rich fertilizer that can be returned to the land of the farmer who 'fed' the biogas plant with his waste. The Nordsol technology that Regazz will use converts biogas into two products: bio-LNG for long-haul transport and liquid biogenic CO2.
