♻️𝗖𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 🚗 : 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 In the Netherlands, we are achieving impressive results in car recycling, thanks to the collaboration with our 238 chain partners. Here are the ten most remarkable facts from the past year: ✅End-of-life vehicles were utilized 98.7% efficiently. Of this percentage, 25.6% was achieved by car dismantling companies, and the remaining 73.1% by shredding companies and the post-shredder plant. Only 1.3% of the total weight of an end-of-life vehicle could not be utilized efficiently. ✅The recycling rate of 98.7% consisted of 88.1% product and material reuse (recycling) and 10.6% energy recovery or other useful applications. ✅The share of product and material reuse slightly increased in 2023 compared to 2022, mainly due to the increased reuse at car dismantling companies. ✅The share of end-of-life vehicles dismantled by ARN-affiliated car dismantling companies rose to 83.7% (2022: 80.9%). ✅An end-of-life vehicle ready for dismantling weighed an average of 1,083 kg, 11 kg more than in 2022. ✅A historically low number of vehicles were deregistered for dismantling: 159,262 vehicles compared to 176,887 in 2022. ✅133,224 end-of-life vehicles were dismantled by ARN-affiliated car dismantling companies. ✅The average age at which a car is retired was 19 years and 7 months at the end of 2023, an increase of two months compared to 2022. ✅The size of the Dutch vehicle fleet increased by 2% in 2023. ✅The recycling contribution for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles was €22.50 in 2023, €2.50 less than the previous year. As of January 1, 2024, the contribution has been further reduced to €20 per vehicle. ARN recently published the 2023 Sustainability Report: "Over thirty years of development and refinement." In this report, you will find more facts, insights, and figures about car and car battery recycling (Dutch only). 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/epaj9HmB #battery #batteries #car #vehicle #recycling #material #facts Martijn Boelhouwer Janet Kes Olaf de Bruijn

𝗗𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗸𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗵 –𝗪𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗴! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 The automotive industry is on the eve of the biggest revolution in its history: the transition from internal combustion engines to electric propulsion. This transformation has major implications for transmission production in particular. While this challenges the sector, it also presents opportunities for other industries. Namely, the end-of-life production equipment from the automotive industry can be valuable for different sectors, which can benefit from it. With the progressive switch to electric cars, the requirements for vehicle production are changing fundamentally. In electric cars, conventional engines and transmissions are increasingly becoming obsolete. A modern combustion engine with transmission consists of about 1,400 parts, while the drive system of an electric car consists of only 200 components. The transmissions in electric cars are much less complex than those in cars with combustion engines. Many electric cars use what is known as an input transmission or reduction gearbox, as no gear change is required. This fixed gear ratio converts the high speed of the electric motor to a lower speed suitable for the wheels, thus ensuring correct driving speed. However, there are also electric cars, especially those with higher power, that are equipped with two-stage transmissions. Read the full article: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e2YRM_nx

Yesterday, a couple of members of the Charging Energy Hubs project participated in the inspiring Holland High Tech Network Event 2024. This event focused on innovation and transformation, essential themes for the future of Europe and the rest of the world. As a sector, we play a crucial role in the urgent transitions to a circular economy, the energy transition, and the implementation of digitalization. Together, we find solutions to societal challenges. At the marketplace, various National Growth Fund programs were presented, including the Charging Energy Hubs (CEH) project. The future of logistics is electric, and this transition places high demands on both fleet managers and the power grid. Tim van 't Wel, work package leader of CEH, explained how in 'Charging Energy Hubs' the supply and demand for electricity are matched in terms of both location and time. The electrification of transport plays an essential role in this. By aligning the electricity demand from logistics with the energy generated by, for example, solar panels, we can relieve the electricity grid. These innovative strategies not only accelerate the energy transition but also pave the way for the integration of electric trucks and associated charging infrastructure. The CEH project represents a significant step forward in the transition to sustainable energy and demonstrates the potential of decentralized energy systems. We continue to innovate and transform, for our future, for Europe, and the world. #Innovation #Energy #EnergyTransition #CEH #HollandHighTech2024 #SustainableEnergy #SmartIndustry #CircularEconomy #ChargingEnergyHubs Nationaal Kennisplatform Laadinfrastructuur NKL, Brainport Development, RAI Automotive Industry NL , RAI Vereniging, Didi Cobussen, Andreas Ligtvoet, Inge van der Kraan, Christine Swinkels, Anna Paar, Danielle van den Berg, Nadieh van Kesteren, Nicole de Boer, Marc Hendrikse
