We had the pleasure to meet many wonderful, bright, and interesting people during our visit to Korea. Our experts, Bruna Agy Loureiro, Product Development Manager, and Eric Schmitt, Director of R&D, had the opportunity to present at Konkuk University in Seoul. They shared insights on the functional benefits and sustainability of insect protein with an engaged audience of graduate students and pet food experts. A big thank you to the attendees for their active participation and curiosity, and a special thanks to Konkuk University for organizing such an inspiring and well-coordinated event. We look forward to continuing the conversation on sustainable solutions for the future of food! #Bettertogether

As the global population swells and incomes rise, the world's appetite for meat and seafood is set to surge. As this demand for meat and seafood increases, so does the need for high-quality animal feed in order to grow the chickens, pigs, cows, fish and shrimp. By 2050, global demand for animal feed is projected to reach a staggering 2 billion tonnes annually, a 70% increase from the 1.2 billion tonnes in 20181. The obvious question is: How will we satisfy our hunger without deteriorating our planet’s resources? In collaboration with Larive International we have created the following article discussing the alternative protein shift and global insect opportunities. Creating a lower environmental footprint for shrimp is more important than ever during #SustainableSeafoodWeek / #BewusteVisweek. Land-based shrimp farming is a relatively new concept aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of the shrimp on our plates, and it’s already making significant waves. Together with Oceanloop and others, we have developed high-performance shrimp feed for land-based farming that promotes animal health, growth, and welfare—all while minimising the impact on our precious oceans. 🌊 Join the wave of sustainable shrimp! Reach out to discuss how we can make your shrimp more sustainable, too.

Shrink the impact of shrimp and salmon at the supermarket! Switching to insect-based feed can cut CO2 emissions by up to 36% for salmon and 37% for shrimp. Make #SustainableSeafoodWeek / #BewusteVisweek your moment to make a change. We’d love to discuss how we can reduce the environmental footprint of salmon and shrimp feed -and ultimately, the seafood- backed by scientific data. Reach out to explore how we can bring more sustainable fish and shrimp to consumers' plates—together! #Sustainability #Aquaculture #Insectingredients #FeedInnovation

Enjoy sustainable salmon that excels in taste! The NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Aller Aqua and Austevoll Seafood ASA Melaks AS conducted a test using insect protein to see if it outperforms traditional raw materials in both performance and sustainability. The results? Feed with our high-quality ProteinX emerged as an all-round winner - both sustainable and superior in performance. It’s nutritious and palatable for the salmon, easy to formulate, and there’s a positive effect on fillet quality and taste. In fact, 70% of participants in a taste test preferred salmon fed with insect meal over standard feed. In the spirit of #Sustainable Seafood Week/ #BewusteVisweek, choose sustainable fish and shrimp that’s not only better for the planet, but tastier, too!

🐔 Exciting News for Insect-Based Broiler Feed! Last week, our colleague Laura de Jong proudly represented Protix at the 75th Annual Meeting of the European Association for Animal Production in Italy. Highlight of the event was Arya Rezaei Far from Wageningen Livestock Research, sharing the latest findings on the benefits of black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) in maintaining growth performance in slow-growing broilers. 🐣👏 These results, part of a Public Private Partnership project with Venik, ForFarmers, Esbro and us, were reinforced by several studies demonstrating the positive impact of BSFL on livestock performance. With a growing body of data, we’re confident insect-based feed is a turnkey solution for chicken feed. The future of livestock feed is here, and we’re proud to be part of it! 💪 EAAP - European Federation of Animal Science #Sustainability #InsectIngredients #BroilerFeed #AnimalNutrition #EAAP

It’s the cat’s whiskers! If even picky felines like a new food, you know you’re onto something good. 🐱🏍 In a study from Wageningen University & Research and Petgood eight adult cats received a feed including 37.5% ProteinX insect meal, alongside a control food based on poultry by-product meal (PBP). All cats well accepted the diet and maintained their consumption throughout the 28-day trail period. None of the cats - and let’s face it they have a reputation for being fickle – turned their noses up at the food. No significant changes in blood parameters were recorded and the cats maintained their body weight and overall health. Treat cats to a tasty food that’s healthy too.
