Porticus is a philanthropic organisation that aims to create a just and sustainable future where human dignity flourishes. We recognise that not all people are able to live with dignity. Our work aims to strengthen the resilience of communities so that all people have ownership over their future and natural resources are used in a sustainable way. Our work is realized through strong networks of partners including local and global NGOs, communities, people with lived experience, policy makers and co-funders. We want systems to change in order to provide solutions to today’s social and environmental problems that benefit generations to come in four areas: the natural environment, societies, education and faith. Our work is led by the strategies of four priorities; Strengthening our Societies – making sure all people have agency and the opportunity to contribute Building Future Generations – strengthening social and emotional learning, especially for children in extreme adversity Caring for the Earth – ensuring a fair transition to a sustainable future Fostering Vital Faith Communities – fostering faith as a source of strength, particularly in Catholic communities In addition, through our special entities Argidius and Community Arts Lab, we work on tackling poverty through strengthening the ecosystem for small business and stimulating social movements through arts.

Award winning Founder & Chief Executive of RIFT Social Enterprise, supporting people across the UK to achieve their dream of becoming self-employed.
RIFT Social Enterprise was given a unique platform on Monday to showcase the Women into Self-Employment (WISE) project at HMP Eastwood Park (our pilot prison) to me, Bernadette McGlew representing our funder, Porticus UK and our new Patron Levi Roots. We started the day with a tour of the prison with the Prison Employment Lead Ellis Croke. We then had some coffee at the prison café, staffed and run by the women residents at the prison. The highlight though was the WISE workshop facilitated by Jemma En Rose, the WISE Project Lead. Levi and I shared our entrepreneurial journeys, answered questions, and provided invaluable feedback to the women as they confidently pitched their own business ideas via a Dragon’s Den-style session and had the opportunity to win some Reggae Reggae Sauce! We were also treated to Levi playing his guitar and singing for us all! The women had some inspired business ideas and their passion was infectious. We are proud to share Observatório do Clima's initiative to promote capacity-building training for farmers across Brazil about climate and regenerative agriculture. 👇 🌱
[pt-br] O Observatório do Clima e a CONTAG se uniram em uma parceria histórica para formar mais de 300 lideranças sindicais em todo o Brasil! 🌎 A quarta oficina de formação está acontecendo agora no Centro-Oeste, após passagens por Recife, Fortaleza e Belo Horizonte. Em breve, estaremos em Florianópolis e Manaus, culminando em um grande encontro nacional. Nosso objetivo é dar visibilidade ao tema, promover questões como soberania alimentar e os desafios das mudanças climáticas, com foco nos impactos em culturas como milho e mandioca. Para isso, elaboramos diversos materiais de suporte para as capacitações, já distribuídos em mais de 20 mil cópias para sindicatos e organizações de base. Lançamos também o podcast "Será que Vai Chover?", disponível no Spotify 🎧 (https://lnkd.in/dT_MxuxZ), e um vídeo introdutório no YouTube 📺 (https://lnkd.in/d-mUr3cy) para enriquecer os debates.
