Today the STC maritime school organised this great Smatt Vision conference on the future of maritime. Inspiring the talent of today to change the port of tomorrow!! It was great to be part of this event organised by Adrian Butnaru and his team. Today was about sharing insight on: The ambition of the Port of Rotterdam by Vivienne de Leeuw and the future of education by Sven Tump member of the board. The future and relevance of drones in the maritime sector was perfectly explained by the team of DronePort Rotterdam led by Niels Kalshoven and Arthur Dallau. Oscar van Veen as the director of innovation for the Port of Rotterdam explained about the urgency to ACT. Think big and act small. Also alderman Robert Simons support this claim of urgency. And we have been able to explain about the future of the energy transition and hydrogen, together with the all the startups and scaleups from the sector. All this was hosted by the inspiring Victoria Koblenko, great to have somebody that is able to unlock the interaction. All together a great event with students, vision and action. Thanks Adrian! #maritime #innovation #education #entrepreneurship #climate #impact Petra van Lange Robbert Douma Monique van der Drift

“The UK provided both the carrots and the sticks,” said Phil MacDonald, managing director of Ember. Big news that the UK closes it last coal plant! We hear more and more about the "carrot and the stick" as one of the crucial factors in the transitions we are going through. This news just came up from the UK: https://lnkd.in/eK-kjkD4 This is a great step towards a greener future. But to get there you need both the right regulation and ambition, as the enabling factors to make the transition possible. As MacDonald says: "It’s important to signal that polluting sources have an end date, but also to provide an enabling environment to build the new clean energy system.” Transitions are never easy. We need everybody. And it offers opportunities. #climate #tech #innovation #transition #maritime #energy #entrepreneurship Photo credits: ELG21 Auke Ferwerda Iris Klingeman Ruben Rutgers Jaqueline Estelle Herrmann Platform Zero

In our sector, not many startups make it to the TIME magazine, but now Paebbl did!!! How? By storing carbon (CO2) in building materials. It is great to see that climate startups are making more and more waves in the global innovation space. This startup, founded by Pol Knops, Andreas Saari, Marta Sjögren, is making real climate impact with their solution. This team achievement is really impressive. We see companies like Paebbl every day and they all have the challenge to prove the product, find pilot and growth funding, partner with slow corporates and governments and deal with regulations and permits not fit for purpose. This is SLOWING DOWN the growth of these kind of companies and thereby the total transition. So all credits go to Paebbl for making these waves. And we want to create the better grounds for these companies to keep accelerating.
