Yesterday Lonneke Driessen - Mutters (Director OCA) was invited on stage to share her thoughts on the state of standards implementation in North America during the CharIN e.V. North America Conference.
📢 The 7th CharIN NORTH AMERICA Conference has officially kicked off today at Lincoln Electric in Cleveland, Ohio! We welcome industry leaders, technical experts, and decision-makers to this event offering an immersive experience in the e-mobility charging and testing landscape. Here's a recap of our morning plenary sessions: 🌎 "Driving Forward: The North American Electric Vehicle Landscape Transition" featured insights from: Steve Sumner / Erika H. Myers / Corey Cantor / Claas Bracklo / Oleg Logvinov The opening Keynote, "The Future of Charging in North America," highlighted the changing dynamics of the EV charging landscape in North America and provided a glimpse into future market trends, opportunities, and challenges. 🌎 "State of Standards Implementation in North America" delved into the latest updates with: Keith Beckstead / Cliff Fietzek / Padma Rao / RT McGee / Sarah Hipel / Lonneke Driessen - Mutters This session covered the convergence of SAE J3400, ISO 15118, UL 2251/2, OCPP 2.0.1, MCS, and SAE J1772 standards, exploring gaps and paving the way for collaborative solutions. This session highlighted barriers to the future and where the industry needs alignment to accelerate and scale. 🌎 "Elevating Reliability & Enhancing the Customer Experience in EV Charging" included contributions from: Brent Gruber / John Smart /Maximilian Zettl / Kristen Leach / Terry Travis / Ivo Steklac As the EV landscape evolves, ensuring reliable charging infrastructure and delivering exceptional customer experiences are paramount. The latest J.D. Power U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study provided valuable insights into how the ChargeX Consortium is bridging the gap to elevate reliability and meet customer expectations. 🌎 "Unleashing the Potential of Vehicle-Grid Integration (VGI)" explored the integration of vehicles and the grid with speakers: Ari Kahn / Richard POTHIN / Jeffrey Lu / Oleg Logvinov / Max Parness / Noel Crisostomo Vehicle-Grid Integration (VGI) stands at the forefront of transformative innovations in the electric mobility landscape. This plenary session delved into the most promising value streams of VGI, exploring standards-based discussions on adaptation for the North American market and evaluating progress in interconnectivity among utilities, pilot projects, and regulatory frameworks. Additionally, the session addresses critical actions needed to propel VGI forward, including discussions on the responsible entity for smart functions between Electric Vehicles (EVs) and EV Supply Equipment (EVSE). A special message from our director Lonneke Driessen - Mutters: OCPP is on a fast track to an IEC International Standard! On Friday June 7th, the IEC has started the Fast Track procedure for OCPP to become an IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) International Standard. Over the past few months IEC and OCA have been drafting a joint way forward that adheres to IEC standard procedures, addresses the points raised by IEC experts about their inclusion in OCPPs future development and stays true to OCA's principles of expedited development and the IPR and license free nature of OCPP. We want your Feedback! At the start of this year, the Open Charge Alliance launched a completely new website. Since then, we have been gathering feedback and tweaking parts and pages to optimize the experience for all users. On the website, you can find all relevant information regarding the Open ChargePoint Protocol (OCPP), events, and working groups, and you can download the specifications and whitepapers. This month, we have already reached 10,000 downloads of the OCPP 1.6 specifications, and the number of OCPP 2.0.1 downloads has far exceeded 10,000. The Open Charge Alliance is very happy that so many people find the information they need, but optimizing the website will be a constant process, and for that, we need your help! Please fill in the feedback form linked below so we can adjust the website to your wishes and needs.

The first day of the first Korean #OCPP Plugfest was a great succes! We had a huge crowd attending the presentations by the members of OCA, PIONIX GmbH, Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC) and Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute. Testing of the OCPP implementations went very well for online as well as on site in Seoul. We are we are looking forward to tomorrow. We wish every participant a happy testing experience and all observers a interesting event!

We are getting ready for the first #OCPP #Plugfest in Korea at the facilities of Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute! Tomorrow testers and developers will come together to test their OCPP charging stations and management systems with eachother. The Open Charge Alliance will present a side program to share the current status of several working groups and projects.

MULTIPLE CONNECTORS PER EVSE UPDATED VERSION AVAILABLE! The Multiple Connectors per EVSE document has been an application note on the OCA site for the past years. However the application note was already released in 2016 and has become outdated. Member-experiences in the use of the EVSE component have resulted in new insights. These new insights have been incorporated into an updated version of the Multiple Connectors per EVSE application note. This updated application note is now available on the whitepapers page. https://lnkd.in/gyvh4YvN
