Another win! SOUL PAINT won the award for Best Health and Wellness at Games for Change. We are thrilled to be acknowledged for our approach using Soul Paint to support patient doctor communication, improve wellbeing in the community and act as a therapeutic intervention. Now the real work begins to continue to expand and distribute Soul Paint to those who can benefit from it the most. How and with whom we would do this was still unclear, but we had a dream. 💭 After 4 years of hard work, dedication, and enjoyable collaboration with a fantastic team, that dream has now become a reality. 🌟 We are proud to share our latest video, showcasing how Spiegelstem is being used and what caregivers and children think of it. 🎥 Over the years, we have had the privilege of working with amazing care organizations such as Pluryn and Philadelphia. 🚀 Begin 2020 begonnen we aan een spannende reis met een eenvoudig maar krachtig idee: kinderen helpen bij het uiten van hun emoties. Hoe en met wie we dat zouden doen, was nog niet duidelijk, maar we hadden een droom. 💭 Na 4 jaar hard werken, inzet en plezierige samenwerking met een fantastisch team, is die droom nu werkelijkheid geworden.🌟 We zijn trots om ons nieuwste filmpje te delen, waarin te zien is hoe Spiegelstem wordt gebruikt en wat zorgverleners en kinderen ervan vinden. 🎥 In de loop der jaren hebben we het privilege gehad om samen te werken met geweldige zorgorganisaties zoals Pluryn en Philadelphia. Op 14 mei organiseerden we het interactief symposium SAMENSPEL. Tijdens het symposium konden drie van onze nieuwste werken worden ervaren, waren er twee boeiende talks en sloten we af met een panelgesprek. Het doel was om samen nieuwe inzichten te verkrijgen over hoe de kracht van spel en co-creatie kan worden ingezet om oplossingen te creëren voor de complexe vraagstukken van de toekomst. Soul Paint is a finalist for the AWE Auggie Awards for Best Societal Impact and Best Healthcare and Wellbeing Solution AND a finalist at the Games for Change Awards in the Best in Health and Wellness category. The deepest of thank yous to everyone who took time out of your busy days to vote for us and get us to the final round of judging. It seems like it's a tough time for many people at the minute, and recognize that there are a million things we could do with our day, so please know your 5 minute act of kindness is felt. The end goal is to have it available for everyone, but we are far from done with our vision, and believe our current LBE version deserves a profound transformation to become the expanded kind of experience that is needed for repeated at home use, and we are currently working our asses off to make that impactful vision a reality, particularly through gathering investment for further development, distribution, and implementation across a range of cultural, educational and healthcare settings. On May 14, we are hosting our own symposium where we will explore the intersection art, science, and health innovation through engaging talks, interactive installations, and panel discussions. What can you expect? In the morning session, Co-founder and designer Simon van der Linden and Dr. Joanneke Weerdmeester will delve into our latest installation, "Spiegelstem." What did co-creation bring forth during the creation of this project? And what are the experiences of children and caregivers with "Spiegelstem"? After a lunch break, our Co-founder and designer Niki Smit will talk about Monobanda's signature and its potential for innovation within the healthcare sector. This will be followed by a panel discussion with experts from healthcare, science, and art, moderated by Joris Weijdom. Narrated by Rosario Dawson, participants are taken on a journey to explore and creatively express feelings of emotion and sensations in the body. Through the process of bodymapping, 3D drawing and movement, you are invited to reveal your own unique inner reality and then observe the creations of others. Soul Paint combines the traditional arts-therapy technique of body-mapping with the immersive and embodied power of VR to: - Explore and gain awareness of how our feelings and experiences manifest in our body - Reflect on and transform how we view and experience certain feelings - Express and communicate feelings in an embodied and creative way - Foster empathy and social connectedness through witnessing the dyotird of others Extensive research has been done with Soul Paint at festivals, arts centres, schools, care institutions and libraries with hundreds of participants with various ages and backgrounds. Research so far has focused on gathering first impressions and user experience feedback as well as exploring different ways and contexts in which Soul Paint could have a meaningful impact. Various therapeutic uses have been explored including the support of people with chronic pain, eating disorders, trauma, and various other physical and mental challenges. Several potential benefits of Soul Paint have been identified including: - Strengthening interoceptive awareness - Improving communication and alliance between patients and practitioners - Monitoring treatment progress, and facilitating goal setting. - Impact and access through social prescribing channels. We will continue to expand on this research determining the value, efficacy, as well as the health economics involved in using Soul Paint in healthcare contexts. Outside of the healthcare contexts, we are also interested in studying how Soul Paint can answer more fundamental questions about (cross-cultural differences in) the human experience and the mind-body connection including themes of: emotional awareness and expression, embodiment, and social connectedness.
