Today Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) and EFPIA - European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations is publishing a 'Data Sharing Playbook' (https://lnkd.in/gxTk_YVM) that distills learning on how to collaborate and access large-scale health datasets in Europe. This is the outcome of a great collaborative effort between many IMI and IHI projects - capturing their experiences and providing solid, actionable recommendations for future projects. Huge thanks to the EFPIA office and Magda Chlebus for orchestrating this. Almost every project that we fund at Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) makes use of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics for health outcomes - stratifying diseases with novel, validated biomarkers, developing mobile health solutions, advancing clinical trials. IHI and the preceding IMI partnerships have supported the development of many large, important datasets - from deeply phenotyped cohorts to Real World Data. For Europe to stay competitive in AI and Data we must ensure that these datasets can be used to drive European innovation and make a difference to patients and healthcare systems. The strength of IHI is our unique model of large public-private partnership that allow the many groups that must have a say on the use and benefit of data - patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, regulators and industry - to join forces and drive innovation in an open, trusted environment. But: organising data access in these broad, collaborative projects is hard and require resources, planning and experience. In the Data Sharing Playbook this experience is freely shared - read it! Use it! Magda and I put together a blog with some reflections on the playbook and the experiences from European data sharing. There will also be a training session in early September: https://lnkd.in/gXErw2BZ Find the Data Sharing Playbook here: https://lnkd.in/gxTk_YVM And - why not use the playbook to make your application to IHI Call 8 more competitive? Data is at the heart of several topics: https://lnkd.in/egeqeb6P #IHITransformingHealth #HealthResearch #ResearchFunding #HorizonEU #HealthData #EHDS Teamit Lygature EATRIS ITTM

“Trust is the key to success in implementing Machine Learning systems in Regulatory environments” and “Cross-stakeholder collaboration is an important enabler for AI in medicine development”. These were just two of the many take-home messages from last Tuesday’s RSNN Annual workshop. We are looking back at a successful Regulatory Science Network Netherlands (RSNN) Annual workshop last Tuesday on the topic of Artificial Intelligence in Regulatory Innovation. Featuring various inspiring speakers, the workshop brought together experts from diverse backgrounds who shared their expertise and passion on the stage. Their presentations and the subsequent panel discussion provided many new insights into the topic of AI in Regulatory Innovation, including expected benefits and challenges. The audience actively participated, stimulating dynamic interactions throughout the workshop. Networking opportunities were also a significant aspect of the event, which enabled participants to connect with both new and existing stakeholder representatives during the break and networking dinner that concluded the day. We want to extend a big thank you those who joined us, your presence and active engagement made this workshop such a success! The presentation files and a selection of photographs from the workshop are now available on the RSNN website:https://lnkd.in/eXDqiy5K. The full scientific report of the workshop is being prepared and will be published soon. #thankyou #workshop #innovation #artificialintelligence

🚨 New publication co-authored by Lygature: "Sharing sensitive data in life sciences: An overview of centralised and federated approaches," published in Oxford Journals Briefings in #Bioinformatics The paper is the outcome of a workshop organised by Lygature under the EOSC-Life project. Commenting on the new publication, Lygature Program Manager and co-author, Jan-Willem Boiten said: "Central repositories for data sharing in European research face challenges, especially with sensitive health data. Federated approaches, where data remains at the source, are increasingly preferred. Our paper discusses the key considerations for choosing between central, federated, or hybrid data storage strategies for large-scale European collaborations." 📖 Read the paper here 👉 https://lnkd.in/d5NbeXfM ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network), BBMRI-ERIC, EATRIS, ERINHA, Istituto Mario Negri, Health Data Hub, European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI, EBRAINS, eCREAM, ISIDORe, Ilse Custers, Rick van Nuland
