De Plesman Residences opens doors in former KLM headquarters in The Hague
Starting from August 1, it will be possible to rent one of the 21 'serviced apartments' in the former iconic KLM headquarters on Plesmanweg in The Hague. The Plesman Residences offer eight different apartment types ranging from 58m2 to 213m2, with the majority featuring a balcony. The apartments are ideal for stays of several months. De Plesman Residences is part of The Fine Hotels & Suites Collection, known for e.g. Stadsvilla Mozaïc in The Hague, among others, which means that residents can expect the same hospitality service. Guests will experience a 'Fine Way of Living' with a warm and stylish interior, concierge service, housekeeping and on-site parking facilities. The Gym and The Office (flexible workplaces) will open for guests in Q4 2023. Sustainability is highly valued at De Plesman Residences and the Monument building has been made fully gas-free. De Plesman Residences are part of the Plesmanduin development, which will become a new residential area with a varied housing offer in The Hague. It is conveniently located between the city center of The Hague and the beach of Scheveningen with public transportation right at the doorstep.
Connecting worlds
In the 1930s, Albert Plesman, founder of KLM, was looking for a location for the new headquarters of the Dutch airline. He wanted to stay close to the political center of The Hague. Plesman’s good friend, Dirk Roosenburg, designed the remarkable building that has been named a Dutch heritage site. You’ll find many elements of the ‘Nieuwe Haagsche School’ architecture, both interior and exterior. This includes the eye-catching rooflines and the repeating columns in the facades. KLM used the building as its headquarters between 1949 and 1969, after which it was occupied by the Ministry of Traffic and Water Management. Today, 80 years later, De Plesman Residences, will continue to write history in the Hague.
"I am incredibly proud that we are opening De Plesman Residences in the former KLM headquarters in The Hague," said Corina Waaijer, owner of Fine Hotels & Suites. "With the opening of the serviced apartments, we are writing a new chapter for this historic building. In 2024 we will continue to further develop this heritage site and we look forward to provide you with updates in due time. It is an honor to carry on the tradition of connecting people from all over the world, just like Albert Plesman envisioned. De Plesman Residences not only offer an outstanding living experience, above all it combines the best of two worlds: the comfort of a luxury apartment and the hospitality service of Fine Hotels & Suites. We are delighted to welcome our guests and extend our ‘Fine Way of Living’.”
