SAM-UVC at UZ Gent on the National News in Belgium 🇧🇪! 🏆 Over the past year, UZ Gent experimented with multiple disinfection robots, and 𝐒𝐀𝐌-𝐔𝐕𝐂 𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫! As a result, UZ Gent is now implementing our high-tech decontamination robot SAM-UVC. SAM-UVC is used at UZ Gent to disinfect Operating Rooms and Patient Rooms in the pulmonology and hematology departments. "These patients have weak immune systems and greatly benefit from thorough disinfection," says Annelies De Cnijf, Infection Control Practitioner at UZ Gent. Utilizing UV-C light, SAM effectively eliminates viruses, bacteria, and other microorganisms without harmful chemicals, offering a safer and more sustainable solution. 🤖 Welkom aan onze nieuwe collega Sam! Met z’n krachtige uv-C-licht zorgt hij ervoor dat onze kamers grondig ontsmet worden. 🔅 ‘Waar de ontsmetting van kamers vroeger chemische verneveling en 24 uur rust vereiste, werkt robot SAM op een duurzame manier en klaart hij de klus in 20 minuten. Zo verhogen we de veiligheid voor patiënten en schoonmaakmedewerkers’, vertel Pascal De Waegemaeker, teamverantwoordelijke van de dienst Infectiepreventie. 📱 De schoonmaakmedewerker bestuurt de robot van buiten de ruimte, omdat de straling schadelijk is voor mensen. Met een tablet kan de medewerker de robot instellen en volgen tijdens de rit. 🧽 Deze week start de robot met de eindontsmetting van zalen in het Operatiecomplex en kamers op de afdelingen Hematologie en Longziekten. Als alles verder goed verloopt, dan zal het team Infectiepreventie de robot breder inzetten in het ziekenhuis. #uzgent #innovatie

Maak kennis met SAM! Hij ziet er misschien uit als een rijdende zonnebank, maar hij is enorm belangrijk voor ons ziekenhuis! 💪 SAM zorgt er met zijn krachtige UV-C licht namelijk voor dat onze operatiekamers gedesinfecteerd worden. Op deze manier is hij een goede ondersteuning voor onze schoonmakers en maakt hij hun werk veiliger en minder zwaar. 🇺🇸 🤠 Last week, I had the privilege to visit Texas on behalf of Loop Robots! I had a fantastic time at the APIC conference in San Antonio and visited the impressive Texas Medical Center in Houston afterward. I'm super excited about what I learned during this trip! 🙌 I discovered that our autonomous UV-C disinfection robot, SAM-UVC, is a couple of essential steps ahead of other UV-C devices currently available in the US. A big thank you to the critical thinkers and pioneering hospitals in our home market for challenging us to make the best possible product for automated room disinfection in hospitals and cleanrooms ❤️! Please keep providing us with your thoughts and feedback, as we will continue improving our tech based on user experience from the field. 🥁 During the conference, I talked to many IPC experts to better understand the differences in how Environmental Hygiene is conducted in the US and Europe. I found two differences that could create a huge opportunity to unlock the full potential of automated room disinfection. I genuinely believe that with the right partnerships, we can significantly improve patient safety worldwide while enabling hospitals and production companies to save on labor costs and drastically reduce the use of chemicals and disposables for decontamination. Advies rondom resistentie bij schimmels gepubliceerd door de Gezondheidsraad. Resistentie ondermijnt de behandeling van schimmelinfecties Ziekteverwekkende schimmels worden steeds vaker resistent tegen antischimmelmedicatie (antimycotica). Hierdoor zijn schimmelinfecties minder goed te behandelen en vaker dodelijk bij mensen met een verminderde afweer. De problematiek rondom resistente schimmels is vergelijkbaar met die rondom resistentie van bacteriën tegen antibiotica, maar effectief beleid ontbreekt.
