The Offshore Energy supply industry in the Netherlands belongs to the Top 5 of the world. Established nearly half a century ago, the association IRO is an independent non-profit organisation that supports and promotes the interests of its 400 member companies. Acting as the gateway to Dutch suppliers in the energy industry, the IRO mission is ultimately aimed at maintaining and strengthening the position of the Dutch Offshore Energy industry by creating a level playing field for its members. A sharp focus on cost efficiency, innovation and sustainability within the Dutch supply industry are instrumental to achieve this goal. The IRO members consist of a wide variety of both multinationals and SMEs. They represent the entire supply chain within the Offshore Energy industry, with activities covering: Engineering & Consultancy, Construction & Fabrication, Plant & Equipment Supply, Contracting & Installation, Exploration & Production and Personnel & HSE, both for offshore upstream oil & gas and offshore renewables (wind and marine energy). The association focuses on three important topics that are vital for the continuity of the industry: Trade & Export Promotion, Innovation & Technology and Human Capital & Education. The range of services that IRO provides to its members varies from maintaining government & NGO relations and facilitating networking opportunities within the IRO community to participating in international trade missions and exhibitions as well as providing Business Intelligence and training courses.

IRO member Fugro has been awarded a site characterisation contract for a wind farm development off the coast of the Japanese cities of Murakami and Tainai, Niigate Prefecture, Japan. The offshore wind farm off the country’s west coast will be developed and realised by a consortium of RWE, Mitsui and Osaka Gas. Wat een warm welkom bij KERSTEN op deze prachtige zonnige dag! Ruim 50 IRO leden bezoeken vandaag Kersten Europe in Wanssum voor de Leden Ontmoeten Leden bijeenkomst. Zij laten ons zien wat zij kunnen als specialisten in het buigen van staal. GBM Works liet zien hoe zij de volgende stap zetten bij het installeren van offshore wind monopile foundations met behulp van waterjets. On this #flashbackFriday we look back to 25 June 2002, and the keel laying ceremony for hydrographic survey vessel HNLMS Snellius. The 75-metre Royal Netherlands Navy vessel was commissioned 18 months later and to this day has a variety of tasks. Its main purpose is surveying the sea and mapping changes in the waterways and seabed, mainly in the North Sea and Caribbean parts of the Kingdom. However, the Snellius can also operate as a guard ship, represent the Netherlands at home and abroad, assist with maritime scientific surveys by the Ministry of Defence, and assist with rescue operations. The multipurpose vessel was built at our shipyards in Vlissingen and Romania, just like her sister ship, HNLMS Luymes. Cool detail: Snellius is the third hydrographic vessel to be named after the Dutch mathematician Willebrord Snellius who contributed significantly to hydrography. #Naval #DamenNaval #shipbuilding
