The likelihood of reusable digital identity credentials seems to be growing ever-larger with pilots such as the EU Identity Wallet already taking place and mainstream mobile tech manufacturers researching into their own wallets. However, there is also an increase in the ways in which digital identity can be applied to in-person use cases - here at Inverid, we are seeing this increase in the combination of physical and digital in some of our customer stories. For example, the Dutch diving test body, CBR, uses ReadID to check the identity of those undertaking a driving test upon arrival. Although CBR staff are trained, not all identity fraud, especially when it comes to identity documents, is visible to the naked eye. That's why ReadID is used on a client-only trusted device basis by CBR staff to read the chips of identity documents from test-takers. In an era of increasing interconnectivity, eSIMs are becoming more commonplace. While these provide extra convenience for the user, they also create convenience for bad actors looking to pull of SIM swap attacks and other forms of fraud.
