  • 🎉 Congratulations to Matei-Ioan Grosu for successfully completing his bachelor final project (BEP) at Eindhoven University of Technology! Matei’s project: 𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘕𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘕𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭 - 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩, conducted at IBS Precision Engineering, showcases his hard work and dedication in the neural network field. This achievement was made possible through a fruitful collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering, under the expert guidance of Associate Professor Mircea Lazar and PhD student Max Bolderman. Through this project, Matei gained extensive knowledge, and we are happy to share that he will continue to be involved with IBS, contributing his expertise to our ongoing neural network project. We are proud of Matei’s hard work and the significant contributions he has made. Well done, Matei. Congratulations! Here's to many more milestones and successes ahead. 🚀👏

It was a pleasure to host the participants of the CERN Accelerator School - CAS for two days at our headquarters in Eindhoven. It was great to meet this diverse group of engineers and applied physicists, eager to learn about our contributions to CERN and explore our latest technologies, machines, systems, and components. After a warm welcome, we introduced the participants to our engineering capabilities, particularly the many ALICIA machines we made for CERN's ALICE Experiment. A tour through IBS highlighted some of our precision engineering and measurement systems, including our ARINNA (in-line interferometer) and our machine qualification systems. Additionally, we showcased our extensive air bearing portfolio and the numerous benefits they offer. The participants had the opportunity to ‘touch and feel’ our non-contact porous media air bearings in action, moving silently, without friction, and sustaining a heavy load capacity. We extend our thanks to Jan Visser (NIKHEF) for organizing the company visits and for the opportunity to be part of the course and we thank the participants for their interest and engagement! 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹: In collaboration with NIKHEF (the Dutch National Institute for Subatomic Physics), the CERN Accelerator School organized a topical course on 𝘔𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 & 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴 from 2-15 June 2024. This two-week comprehensive lecture program covered a wide range of mechanical engineering and material science topics, complemented by talks on applications in the field of accelerators. Additionally, the course included various hands-on experiments where participants engaged in practical work, as well as visits to professional companies with specific expertise in the area. Excited to kick off our first day at the Official euspen Conference show in Dublin! It's always nice to be part of this leading precision forum, bringing together industrialists and academics to showcase global industrial innovation and cutting-edge research. Our team is proud to represent our organizations (Lion Precision, a Carlisle Company, New Way Air Bearings and IBS Precision Engineering) and our dedication to metrology powered precision, world class engineering and our unique solutions for every environment. This year we showcase our new 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, a development platform that combines high-precision components such as a dovetail air stage, flat air bearings, piezo actuators and capacitive sensors. The real time control system with 5 kHz control frequency demonstrated live metrology powered nanometre precision, steering a 4DOF stage. Also integrated are our latest differential inductive sensor systems, used to track the rotational motion of our stage in A and B directions at bandwidths of 29KHz and 7nm resolution. If you're attending the euspen show, we would like to connect and exchange thoughts on your precision challenges. Visit us at booth 11-12 and in the entrance hall, to discover our cutting-edge engineering solutions. Explore our range of non-contact position and displacement sensors, as well as our innovative porous media air bearings. Let's discuss how we can help you to elevate your precision to the next level. Looking forward to the next two days of thought-provoking discussions, stimulating ideas, and exciting networking opportunities. #euspen #precisionengineering #precisionmeasurement #nanotechnology #industrialinnovation #conference #networking #engineering #innovation #ibspe

On Monday May 6th, our Innovation Director dr. Theresa Burke will be hosting the next DSPE Lunch Lecture with the title: "Precision in roll-2-roll printed electronics". Theresa is also leader of the Roadmap ‘Test & Measurement’ linked to OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association). In the production of flexible electronics, such as organic LEDs or photo-voltaic foils, nanometer scale features critical to the device performance are often implemented. In-line 3D metrology of such profiles would revolutionize the production process by avoiding time consuming off-line measurements for process control. Achieving such measurements in a roll-2-roll environment is a precision challenge. In-line interferometry has been developed for this purpose delivering nanoscale accuracy on a moving flexible foil. Interested to follow this online lecture (12:02-12:30 hours) via Teams? Send a.s.a.p. an email to DSPE! The lunch lectures are organised by the Dutch Society for Precision Engineering. The DSPE is an unique community of precision engineers stimulating professional contact and sharing knowledge & passion in precision engineering.
