BLACK SABBATH - THE BALLET | Voor headbangers en balletliefhebbers! Van 12 t/m 15 juni werd Rotterdam voor vier avonden omgedoopt tot de heavy metal hoofdstad van Nederland. Met enthousiasme, luid klinkend applaus en een staande ovatie werden de dansers van Birmingham Royal Ballet en de musici van Sinfonia Rotterdam door het publiek, bestaand uit doorgewinterde balletbezoekers, maar ook metalheads, keer op keer onthaald als de rocksterren van de band Black Sabbath. Met heel veel trots kijken wij dan ook terug op Black Sabbath - The Ballet, deze eerste echte heavy metal balletervaring! — BLACK SABBATH - THE BALLET | For headbangers and ballet lovers! For four nights, Rotterdam was transformed into the heavy metal capital of the Netherlands. With enthusiasm, loud applause and astanding ovations, the dancers of Birmingham Royal Ballet and the musicians of Sinfonia Rotterdam were welcomed by the audience, ballet enthusiasts as well as metalheads, as the rock stars of the band Black Sabbath. De aanmeldingen schetsen een beeld van een werkelijk opmerkelijke sector: kunstenaars met provocerende, innovatieve en spannende ideeën uit heel Europa die verandering eisen in de culturele sector.  De projecten op de shortlist gaan nu door naar de volgende stappen.  Aan het eind van het proces worden drie producties gekozen tot EBA co-producties. WE ARE EUROPE | Welke regelingen zijn er getroffen door spelers in de Europese culturele sector om mensen met een beperking te verwelkomen en op te nemen? Op woensdag 17 april was Irene van Zeeland, verantwoordelijk voor DanceAble programma bij Holland Dance Festival, te gast tijdens We are Europe in Parijs. Door middel van een debat over praktijken in België tot Georgië stelt We Are Europe de kwestie van toegankelijkheid binnen de hedendaagse culturele scènes aan de orde. “Het is ontzettend inspirerend om te merken dat het werk dat Holland Dance Festival doet, samen met onze partners, binnen Europe Beyond Access wordt opgepikt door andere landen en organisaties. Het is zo goed om vanuit een ander politiek, sociaal en cultureel perspectief te kijken naar waar ik mee bezig ben. De vragen van de deelnemers leiden ertoe dat ik zelf ook weer kritisch kijk naar onze aanpak van bepaalde zaken. Soms kan een andere aanpak inspireren om een andere route te vinden naar je doel, naar het inclusiever maken van podiumkunsten. Maar het mooiste aan deze gelegenheid is dat ik de kans krijg om het belangrijke werk dat Holland Dance Festival doet op het gebied van inclusie, ook buiten de landsgrenzen op de kaart te zetten.” — WE ARE EUROPE | What arrangements have been made in the European cultural sector to welcome and include people with disabilities? On April 17, Irene van Zeeland, responsible for DanceAble program at Holland Dance Festival, spoke as guest speaker at We are Europe in Paris. Discussing practices from Belgium to Georgia, We Are Europe raised the issue of accessibility within contemporary cultural scenes. "It is incredibly inspiring to see that the work Holland Dance Festival is doing, together with our partners, with Europe Beyond Access is being picked up by other countries and organizations. It's good to look at what I'm doing from a different political, social and cultural perspective. Participants questions lead me to take a critical look at our approach to certain issues. Sometimes a different approach can be inspiring to finda different route to your goal or making performing arts more inclusive. The best thing about this opportunity is that I get the chance to talk about the important work Holland Dance Festival is doing in the area of inclusion in The Netherlands, but also beyond our borders." HOLLAND DANCE FESTIVAL | Zet de dans op z'n kop! Met ruim 60 voorstellingen in 20 verschillende producties is de negentiende editie van Holland Dance Festival op zaterdag 17 februari succesvol afgesloten. Met heel veel trots kijken wij terug op 3,5 week met spraakmakende, onderscheidende en prachtige dans van over de hele wereld. Er kwamen 24 dansgezelschappen samen om de meest actuele trends en ontwikkelingen binnen de internationale dans te tonen. Tijdens het hele festival waren 300 dansers met 30 nationaliteiten van over de hele wereld te zien, die uit alle delen van de samenleving en uit verschillende culturen kwamen. The entire festival featured 300 dancers with 30 nationalities from all over the globe, from all parts of society and from different cultures. HOLLAND DANCE FESTIVAL | Gisteren volgde team Holland Dance Festival een workshop bij Welkom Toegankelijkheid & Evenementen. Het was een leerzame middag, waarin inzichten werden verzameld over gastvrijheid en toegankelijkheid voor het festival en de toekomst. Dans is voor iedereen, daar streven wij naar! Dankjewel Marianne Dijkshoorn EMa voor de inspirerende workshop.
