Over ons
Hike One is your partner in digital product design. With over 60 UX designers, strategists, researchers, and project managers, we operate from our office in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Eindhoven. We bridge the gap between technology and people by creating products that are deliberate and delightful. From designing the right thing, to designing the thing right. We work in an agile way, because no journey is the same. With every new insight a new possibility presents itself, and we choose the services that best fit the challenge at the time. We love to explore: we discover the pain points, define the product vision, and design products people love to use. We walk the journey together but we guide you on the way. And we always leave you more capable than before to continue on your own. Together we realise the full potential technology has to offer. Through collaboration we reach our destination.

Last week David van Duinen and I had the pleasure of discussing continuous discovery with the people of Schiphol. Talking speedboats, containerships, and how to create alignment so all teams steer the same course. 🚤 ⛴️ ⚓️ The main discussion points: - Change your perspective from making your stakeholders see your point of view, to understanding theirs. Take it from there. - Anticipate the needs of stakeholders who may be focused on short-term goals during peak seasons by planning ahead. - When you can't directly link the business strategy to your product strategy, do some discovery yourself. Joel and his team are doing a great job at researching what the main themes can mean for the product and sharing that with their colleagues. Thanks Joel Laumans for inviting us, we're looking forward to the talk you'll give at Hike One 🙌

“We’ve evaluated our product, but we can’t get the budget to fix the large issues” You might face some obstacles while making your products accessible, such as: 🤷♀️ A lack of understanding, 🤩 No buy-in, or 🛠️ Inaccessible third-party tools But you’re not alone, and we’ve seen it before. Don't let them prevent you from getting ahead. Want to solve those issues? Read our last blog in the accessibility series: https://lnkd.in/eitC2DDt

Will you get a € 103.000 fine because of lacking accessibility? 🤑 You might, with the new European Accessibility Act coming up. However, you might wonder: • What other laws and guidelines are there? • What does that mean for my product? • How will this be implemented in The Netherlands? Accessibility is not just about legal compliance, but it is nice to know the basics. Read about it at https://lnkd.in/ezC9nY8j #Accessibility #EuropeanAccessiblityAct #DigitalProductDesign

“Every day we get an ever bigger option overload. If you are not supported in the decision-making process, you are still left with nothing.” A quote that pretty much captures the core of what was discussed during the roundtable discussion we organised. Thanks to Ainat Sagie-Cohen, Lena Overkamp, Ingrid Smit, Sander van Mourik, Sytse Goverts, Fenna van Kesteren, Felix Mauricio Fraile Schumacher, Niki Jongman, Caya Kempe for bringing this discussion to life! Topics we discussed: • How does Generation Alpha learn; how to keep children socially engaged? • What are motivational drivers for Gen Alpha; • The ethics of designing for kids. Accessibility can be challenging 😬 And we get it; it can seem like an enormous undertaking, you might lack the knowledge in your organisation, and others might ask you for the ROI. But you can split it into smaller, specific steps: • Product review, • Staff training (for all product roles), • Fixing product issues, your design system, and third-party tools, • Embedding it in your process and organisation. Dive deeper into each step with the full article: https://lnkd.in/exe4tz8f
