Creative Agency Driving Cultural and Business Impact for Brands
Over ons
Founded in Amsterdam in 2018, HERC is a creative hub focussed on telling impactful brand stories, for both domestic and international clients with a progressive mindset. Named for DJ Kool Herc, the iconic godfather of hip-hop, the agency mixes brand building, culture and entertainment. The agency has helped the likes of G-Star, Young Capital, HP, Shoeby and Tony’s Chocolonely find their cultural voice. Challenging the status quo is at the heart of HERC. It starts with hiring and supporting passion projects all the way to shaping client partnerships and effective creative solutions. A progressive outlook on the industry is what binds together a uniquely diverse team of problem solvers. HERC believes in making engaging contributions to culture in service of like minded brands, while staying true to their values and connected to their community.

Dear Elif Albayrak You always challenge us with questions that truly matter. When you asked why advertising agencies and people who supported #Ukraine or #BLM in the past are silent now, I was left without an answer. The truth is, I'm still unsure. Could it be that agencies fear that speaking out may affect their customer base? Or could it be that the ongoing global suffering doesn't resonate as deeply because it doesn't directly involve white or black individuals but, rather, the Palestinian community? I can't say for sure. However, one thing is clear: the pain resonates deeply, not just with you. But also within our friends and colleagues. The people we work with on sets or use as a model. The silence from our industry in the face of such suffering pains me too. At HERC, we take a stand. We share our thoughts and ideas, and will engage in initiatives that demonstrate our support for the Palestinian people who have endured years of oppression and suffering. Is it enough? I don't know. But, Elif Albayrak, continue being the voice of dissent in the room. We stand beside you because the current Palestinian situation is unacceptable, and no one should turn a blind eye to it. From the river to the sea. Palestine will be free. https://lnkd.in/ejxVP-3m
There I am. Again, writing a post on LinkedIn. And repeating myself again. Being the "difficult person" in the room. I feel ashamed and lonely in this advertising industry that is preaching about social impact. But is remaining silent during a genocide. I feel ashamed how every "diversity hero" that was preaching for change is silent and scared to share something. I feel that most of the people that gave me hope, are the same people that opened my eyes that we have lost our humanity. I've seen all of you creating a project for Ukraine. I've seen all of you "choosing a side". I've seen all of you "forcing" your employees to give voice for a situation while they were even struggling with their own feelings. I've seen all of you making your own PR and seeing the pain of others as crypto. I've seen all of you selecting and deciding who's pain will bring you more views. I've seen the best performance in my life in the industry that was preaching change. We are witnessing hell on earth. And we know that we all can bring change to situations. Or even awareness was enough. Even the smallest thing can wake up someone. But no-one felt the urge to do something. I am no longer here to ask you to actually do something. So again, you can practice the same thing and bring your own PR because someone asked you to do so. I am happy that we have a new generation that is stepping up for change. Thanks to all of you for opening my eyes. Thanks to all the people that are sharing everything for years - and not only the past week from their heart. Thanks to all the people that just sparked me a bit of hope in this situation by sharing their grief and sharing their own story and struggle. And thanks to a small group of people that are not scared to get into action. Translation for the image: The best headline I have seen in the past week. "Israel massacred humanity".

You don’t kick a friend when they’re down. You pull them through. And that's why we partnered with Fitzgerald and the team at Cortina Bikes to introduce the Cortina Sleepdienst: a towing service for e-bikes which were stranded due to lock failures, empty batteries or sudden bankruptcies. Bike owners shared their location through WhatsApp and the Sleepdienst showed up to tow the bikes to their desired location. Powered by one of the most reliable e-bikes out there: the Cortina E-Blau. We love a juicy and topical idea where we can hustle to deliver and be proud of the results! Congrats to all involved on agency and brand side and special shout out to Jord Beets for his handiwork. #ebikelife #amsterdam #fietsen #partnership #thisisace

Today marks the 50th birthday of one of the biggest cultures in the world. Hip Hop. We as an industry get inspired by it. We borrow from it. Or sometimes even steal from it. Yes, it happens. Hip hop totally changed the music industry, advertising, sport, lifestyle, society, art, fashion, entertainment, the way we speak etc etc. We all are somehow connected to it. It might be in your own heart or in the heart of your kids. But let's not forget how it all started. Hip hop was in all facets a way to express yourself. For a lot of black and coloured kids it was a cry for help, a way to protest, to show who you were or a way to forget a hard knock life. It was about recognition and about being proud of yourself and your roots. HERC’s name is inspired by one of the founding fathers of Hip Hop. DJ Kool Herc. Inventor of the breakbeat. The merry go round. He broke down boundaries and created a new world. That’s what we want as an agency as well. Through cultural research/strategy, craft and storytelling we like to create an authentic and unique brand world. Hip Hop is a culture that is often used in our industry. But also often doesn't get the recognition it should get. That's a shame because we can all learn something from hip hop. (Meeting DJ Kool Herc and listen to his stories was masterclass and an amazing experience.) Tip: read https://lnkd.in/eaEbRwCw
