Modular Multi-level Converters 🔬 In an era when technological advancements are reshaping industries, understanding emerging concepts and breakthrough innovations are crucial. In the FlexH2 project, we care about sharing the knowledge we have gained, so we came up with the concept of ReFlexions. 🌱 In our ReFlexions, we give a short explanation of a technology or topic we are working on. Our objective is not to go into technical details but rather to provide a basis for understanding the technology developed and to provide sufficient context of its relevance in the energy transition. ⚡The fourth ReFlexion is on Modular Multi-level Converters and was written by Carl Barker, Consulting Engineer at GE Vernova. Thanks, Carl, for your contribution! We invite all professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts interested in cutting-edge technology and its transformative potential to read our published ReFlexions. https://lnkd.in/edkac-AK
Over ons
GROW, "Growth through Research, development & demonstration in Offshore Wind" – a consortium of around 20 leading players to reduce the costs of offshore wind to a competitive level in the near future. In the next 5 years, research institutes and companies active across the entire offshore wind value chain will cooperate in GROW and bring innovations to the market. 16 organisations have already joined, Boskalis, Deltares, DOT, ECN, Eneco, IHC, Lagerwey, innogy, LM Wind Power, Seaway Heavy Lifting, Shell, Sif, TenneT, TNO, TU Delft and Van Oord.

The Deltares team involved in the JIP Hydraulic Pile Extraction – Scaled Tests 1.2 (HyPE-ST 1.2) visited the Testzentrums Tragstrukturen Hannover (TTH) to check the piles that will be tested in TTH’s 10-metre-deep testing pit. After the successful ‘proof-of concept’ hydraulic extraction tests with smaller piles at the Deltares facilities, it is time to scale up! The piles of 1.5 m in diameter and total lengths ranging from 7.5 m to 9.5 m will be installed in dense sand and extracted using hydraulic pressure. Instrumentation with pore pressure and total pressure sensors, as well as fibre optics, will provide insights on, e.g. friction development between pile and soil and pile strains under high hydraulic pressures. Special thanks to the project partners: Deltares, Delft Offshore Turbine (DOT), IQIP®, Jan De Nul Group, KCI the engineers, RWE, Sif Group, TKI Offshore Energy and TNO Offshore Wind Energy. And to Ton Peters and Anderson Peccin da Silva. Hydraulic pile extraction is a #circular and #sustainable innovation for #decommissioning of #monopiles. Want to know more?
