Excited to share something I have been working on! Great collaboration between Ginkgo and FabricNano for BVMO immobilization and stabilization. BVMOs do Baeyer-Villiger reactions, super interesting for drug discover and biomanufacting. BVMOs are a particularly difficult class of enzyme to over-express in a host cell, this makes the entire enzyme class unlikely to be used for biomanufacturing of molecules. Utilizing immobilization can open the door for their unique chemistry in chemicals synthesis. This case study shows a selection of BVMOs that I identified through a 2000 enzyme screen of predicted fungal BVMOs. The selected enzymes were immobilized and assessed for activity over 4 days by FabricNano. Being able to maximize reuse of this enzyme will greatly improve the cost-effectiveness and scale of this process.
