Unfortunately, specific regulations addressing this scenario, where an EU Blue Card holder wishes to work remotely in another EU country while residing in a different EU member state, may not be explicitly outlined in national legislation or directives. 📌 We get these requests every day, here is our answer to whether the employee needs another visa: The EU Blue Card permits short-term travel within the Schengen Area. Since workations are considered privately motivated trips rather than business trips, your employee can stay in France without needing an additional visa, provided no business activities, such as visiting a local office or attending a conference, are conducted. While specific regulations for this scenario may not be outlined, the principles of freedom of movement and the EU Blue Card Directive support your position. Nevertheless, it never hurts to have a confirmation letter stating the fact that the employee will return to their employment country.
