How the race to become the fastest man alive breaks down the difference between business intelligence and process mining. 🏃♂️   Have you seen these images from the 2024 Olympic 100m final? It's a powerful analogue for the difference between process mining and business intelligence.   The first image is the outcome—Noah Lyles winning by a fraction. Like business intelligence, it tells you what happened; who won, and by how much. It's essential for understanding the final outcome. The second image captures eight frames, showcasing the race from start to finish. Like process mining, it focuses on the journey. It tells you how Lyles' won - with a bad start but a powerful end sprint. It's about understanding the process behind the outcome, and where it can be improved.   Business intelligence shows you the finish line, while process mining helps you understand how you can optimize every step in the race.   Both are essential, but for different purposes. If we were in the shoes of Kishane (🥈), we'd want to get our hands on those eight frames of process mining before going to LA in 2028.   Photo credits: Erick W. Happy to hear we made it to the list of 250 European Data Infrastructure startups!   A lot is going on in "our' #DataTransformation category because making data useful for analytics is no joke. Today, someone explained so eloquently why it's such a challenge for #processmining specifically:   "The key problem is to bring the two perspectives together: how the data is recorded in IT systems and the actual execution of business processes.    It's messy. Most logs have not been explored before. In those cases, you don't know which process steps are stored or how they are stored. And for the data that you find, it's a puzzle to understand what it means in the business context." Konekti brings data engineers and domain experts to the same table - literally!
