FEMS is a pan-European scientific body campaigning to get science - and microbiology in particular - on the global agenda. Across all our Member Societies, we bring together around 30,000 professional microbiologists who are exploring microbiology and its impact on the world.
We were set up in 1974 to promote microbiology across Europe, and today we are a growing coalition of over 50 Member Societies from 40 countries. For almost as many years, the FEMS Journals have published trusted microbiological science from our community of researchers. FEMS facilitates further exchange of scientific knowledge by organizing the biennial FEMS Congress for microbiologists around the world, and running a variety of initiatives to communicate microbiology.
Members of FEMS Member Societies can apply for grants and/or support to undergo research training, and when organizing or attending a meeting.
