Ex-Core is a technical revolution in carbon-fibre manufacturing. Ex-Core’s syntactic foam technology creates carbon-fibre parts by expanding to push the carbon sheets against the mould from the inside out.
Ex-Core was developed from the Donkervoort Automobielen supercar company’s search for a material that could match the strength criteria of its engineers, the design flexibility of its creative team and the light-weight obsession of its founder.

TITLE-DECIDING BAHRAIN WIN FOR TOYOTA GAZOO RACING
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing brought the curtain down on a thrilling 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season with a one-two victory in the 8 Hours of Bahrain to decide the destination of the drivers’ title.
Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa won the race in their #8 GR010 HYBRID to secure their second successive drivers’ World Championship. Sébastien and Brendon also set a new record of four drivers’ title apiece, while Ryo has now won titles in both his seasons of Hypercar competition so far.
A battling race from Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López in the #7 GR010 HYBRID saw a fine recovery drive following a first-corner incident. They needed victory to challenge for the title but had to settle for second place, earning runners-up spot in the championship.
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing confirmed its fifth consecutive World Championship double of manufacturers’ and drivers’ titles for the perfect end to an exciting season of Hypercar competition which featured fierce challenges from Cadillac, Ferrari, Glickenhaus, Peugeot, Porsche and Vanwall.
The last two vehicles to use Ex-Core’s innovative carbon-fibre technology for their windscreen frames could not be any more different.
The second last was the Donkervoort F22, which obsesses about weight to the point of paranoia. The latest vehicle to use Ex-Core for the windscreen frame has every creature comfort you could imagine, right down to hot and cold running water, an ice maker and even a kitchen sink.
Launched yesterday, the ultra-luxury Wajer 44 yacht [Wajer Yachts] is the latest premium vehicle to choose Ex-Core to deliver on its design promises.
The 13.1-metre motor yacht is Wajer’s latest artistic creation, dubbed the pinnacle of nautical engineering, and it could not have achieved its shape without Ex-Core.
“What is really nice is the fully exposed carbon-fibre windshield,” Wajer Managing Director Dries Wajer said.
“It’s a carbon-fibre frame which is made with automotive technology. It’s extremely stiff but also very nice, and it allowed us to bring a huge curvature into the glass.
“It’s so stiff and so nice, and it’s something new for the industry,” Wajer said.
The Wajer uses Ex-Core pieces in other weight- and stiffness-critical areas on the Wajer 44 as well, but the exposed Ex-Core carbon fibre on the windscreen frame is reminiscent of the Donkervoort F22 Bare Naked variant.
The Wajer 44 is 13.1 metres long, four metres wide at the beam and has a refrigerator, a shower, a toilet, a double bed, a dining area and a sitting area, all in a vehicle capable of 40 knots (74km/h) and motoring 555km between refuels.
