Management and support of the open charge point interface OCPI as a free, reliable standard worldwide for EV roaming.
Over ons
The objective of the EVRoaming Foundation is to facilitate roaming services for charging electric vehicles and provide transparent information to consumers about charging locations and prices, by use of the open and independent Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) protocol. The ultimate goal is to allow any EV driver to charge at any charging station in the EU: simplify, standardize and harmonize. The EVRoaming Foundation manages and maintains the OCPI protocol and ensure its free availability. The foundation is not limited to OCPI and can also support other related activities and services.

Between 25th and 27th June the EVRoaming Foundation organised an event in Amsterdam for all their contributors/members. During this event the setup of the Board changed. We want to thank Julien Neuschwander from Freshmile/Rexel for his dedication to the board. Freshmile has been contributing since 2018 to the success of the foundation, and we are grateful for all contributions and support. As new members of the Board, we welcome Matthew Penny from Octopus Energy and Wilhelm Henriksson from Plugsurfing: congratulations! We are looking forward to a strong and successful future ahead. During the 3 day event, besides the General Assembly meeting, many different topics were discussed with our contributors. Beside OCPI Protocol - Open Charge Point Interface 3.0 and the upcoming #Test and #Certification programme, other actual topics were discussed such as #Fraud Prevention, Quality of Service (#QoS), Quality of Data (#QoD) and #Reliability of Data. Also, use cases around #Logistics/HDV Booking and #Accessibility were discussed and how to support this better in the OCPI protocol. The development of Plug and Charge, and the necessary #PKI for secure transactions were discussed, as well as the best options to provide #roaming support beyond our work on protocols. Current EV and roaming activities in #Asia and other regions in the world were also discussed, with a great contribution from Laurens Wiersma It is clear that the EVRoaming Foundation is not only maintaining and improving the OCPI Protocol - Open Charge Point Interface, but is supporting roaming and accessibility in general. Of course there was also plenty of time to socialize and catch up with each other as members from all countries and regions where present. The EVRoaming Foundation is looking back at a great event, many thanks to all participants and presenters. Back from Korea where the Electric Vehicle Symposium 37 has taken place! On behalf of the EVRoaming Foundation, I joined EVS37 with the goal to discuss and support open roaming for EV charging with companies and governments in Asia-Pacific. We also had a contribution for the academic programme, focusing on our work for optimizing tariff structures and improving price transparency (let me know if you are interested). First of all: the hospitality was absolutely fantastic. A very well organized event, with high standards and an interesting programme. And as for the Korean culture: a great country, helpful people, very safe (even in 25M Seoul!) and very well organized. Recommended! As for eMobility development: Korea already has 550k BEV on the road, with some 226k publicly accessible chargers. However, most of the BEV are commercial fleets, little private uptake. Always the question: is that an issue? do we really want a lot of private vehicles in a metropolitan area such as Seoul? or better: rely on (excellent) electric public transport and electric taxis.... Also, little interaction between CPO's and few developments regarding eMSP's. There is a lot to be gained here, as this country with 50M people will further grow, especially with Korean Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) and Kia Worldwide as leading BEV manufacturers. We have seen this in other Asian countries as well (Thailand, Malaysia, Japan): a good uptake in BEV, but limited development of an overarching market model and diverse. business models for operators and service providers beyond kWh sales. The potential is great in Asia, as is the technical expertise and know-how. With the EVRoaming Foundation we aim to support this development. With the open roaming protocol #OCPI as a fundament for an open market for EV charging. And with our working groups, community and expertise, to add knowledge and insights to the discussion. We would love to see more Asia-Pacific companies join the Foundation, be part of this community and support EV growth! Thanks to Laurens Wiersma for joining as the regional manager for the EVRoaming Foundation from Bali; it will give us the opportunity to be present at regional events and organize workshops. Thanks to all the current (and future!) EVRoaming members for the fruitful discussions! Chantakorn David Gridwitchayayarkarn (EVAT Thailand) Paweł Małkowiak (Solidstudio), yoon-chang choi (KTC), Naoki Okawa and Yuya Okada (Plugo Japan), Jean-Marc Rives and Eric Plaquet (Gireve), Ted Dongyeol Shin and Youngman Cho (EVAR), Björn Albertsson (Metergram) and many others! Finally: a great thanks to Netherlands Enterprise Agency to have us at the Holland Pavilion! And PS: Yes we did do the Karaoke, and it was fantastic 😍, and we spent a few days afterwards to enjoy this beautiful country!

Starting Logistics WG and Heavy Duty Booking Task Group! #Logistics is becoming an important market in the Electric Vehicle #charging eco-system. Heavy Duty Vehicles will play a crucial role in the transition towards sustainable transport. Many Heavy Duty Vehicle manufactures already have electric vehicles that require the right available, flexible and usable charging infrastructure. The EVRoaming Foundation is starting a Logistics Work Group with a Heavy Duty Booking Task Group. This way we will contribute to a better accessible market and support the energy transition. In the next period the business and use cases will be defined for how a booking system for HDV should work, supporting open standards between systems. This is done together with market parties that joined already the EVRoaming Foundation as Full Contributor. If you are interested to join and are committed to support this market, join the EVRoaming Foundation. You can find more information on our website https://lnkd.in/ds6djQpD including the goals and requested commitment. You can also contact us directly.

Happy to finally release the review version of @OCPI 3.0! After 3 years of hard work. Thanks everyone who participated so far and looking forward to continue with that.
OCPI 3.0 is there! Today the EVRoaming Foundation published the review version of OCPI 3.0. This can now be downloaded including a review sheet from the EVRoaming website https://lnkd.in/dem8J9Mj It is clearly a REVIEW version, and feedback is welcome and will be processed by the EVRoaming foundation and its Contributors. It is the aim the individual modules can also work together with OCPI v.2.2.1 as the market is waiting for these functionalities and improvements. And it might make the full move to 3.0 easier in the future. For now the EVRoaming Foundation is interested in your feedback.
