The European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians (EFAD) exists to support its member organizations in developing the role that dietitians have in reducing inequalities and improving nutritional health in Europe. EFAD aims to improve nutritional health and promote sustainable diets in Europe by advocating the leadership role for dietitians in collaboration with our members and stakeholders. EFAD was established in 1978. It is a not for profit organization that does not pursue any political, religious, or financial ends.

🌟 Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend an insightful webinar hosted by The European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians (EFAD) on "Achieving Healthy Ageing through Gut Dietary Interventions", with two incredible speakers: Prof. Paul O'Toole from University College Cork and Prof. Marian de van der Schueren from Wageningen University & Research. Through Prof. Paul O'Toole's deep microbiology expertise and Prof. Marian de van der Schueren's profound knowledge in nutrition, I gained a clearer understanding of the critical role protein consumption plays for older adults in preventing malnutrition, sarcopenia, and cachexia. Additionally, the discussions on maintaining a healthy gut microbiome were truly eye-opening. 🦠💪 A big thank you to Yakult Science for HCPs in UK & Ireland for supporting this valuable webinar and continuing to advance research in gut health. Week tegen ondervoeding 2024 In 2024 zal het Kenniscentrum Ondervoeding voor de derde maal in Nederland de Week tegen Ondervoeding (#WTO2024) initiëren. Deze week zal plaatsvinden van 11 t/m 15 november 2024. Ben jij ook (weer) van de partij? Ben je professional in zorg of welzijn? Tijdens deze week willen we zoveel mogelijk professionals stimuleren zelf actie te ondernemen in hun eigen organisatie of werkomgeving. We doen dit samen met onze partners, zoals NESPEN, onze partners van het Partnernetwerk Ondervoeding Ouderen, beroeps- en brancheorganisaties, kennisinstituten en patiënten- en ouderenorganisaties. Wist je dat in deze week ook nutritionDay op 14 november wordt gehouden in Nederland, georganiseerd door NESPEN? Op onze site vind je tips, inspiratie en ook materialen en het logo, die vrij zijn te gebruiken. Zo hebben we factsheets ontwikkeld, mooie voorbeelden verzameld en ook enkele scholingen, die je in deze week kan inzetten. Zet je social media in? Gebruik dan #WTO2024 . Doel en doelgroepen Met de Week tegen Ondervoeding #WTO2024 willen we de bewustwording vergroten en signalering, screening en behandeling van ondervoeding in Nederland verbeteren. We roepen op alert op ondervoeding te zijn bij alle volwassenen of kinderen met een ziekte en (kwetsbare) ouderen. Verpleegkundigen & verzorgenden in alle sectoren blijven een belangrijke schakel voor tijdig signaleren & screenen, het in gang brengen van een actieplan en zo nodig verwijzen naar de diëtist voor een adequate behandeling van ondervoeding. We roepen op bij je acties tijdens #WTO2024 ook verpleegkundigen & verzorgenden te betrekken cq kennis te delen. Impulsando el cambio en alimentación y equidad: evaluación, diseño e implementación de soluciones que promueven la calidad de la dieta, la seguridad alimentaria y el bienestar de personas y comunidades
El próximo 6 de octubre tendré el placer de compartir mesa con Antonio Vargas Vargas, responsable del departamento de Salud y Nutrición en Acción contra el Hambre, y Sonia Fuertes, Comisionada de Acción Social del Barcelona City Council de Barcelona, en el IV Foro de Alimentación Responsable en NutriEXPO Barcelona 2024. En mi intervención, hablaré sobre la situación de inseguridad alimentaria en Europa, así como el papel clave que tenemos las dietistas-nutricionistas en su identificación y abordaje. La situación actual, marcada por el incremento de los precios de la energía y los alimentos, hace aún más urgente reflexionar sobre el rol del sistema de protección social y las políticas públicas en garantizar el acceso a una alimentación adecuada, especialmente en poblaciones vulnerables. Estoy segura de que tanto Antonio como Sonia nos aportarán una visión profunda y valiosa sobre esta problemática y las soluciones que ya se están implementando. ¿Nos acompañas?
