Congratulations to the entire team for this accomplishment, as well as for their recent publication on the project. The new project, PEP4LEP 2.0 officially started in April and aims to contribute to the objectives of the original PEP4LEP project. Additionally, researchers aim to understand and overcome the effects of COVID-19 delays and assess the long-term impact of both interventions using mathematical modelling. 📰 Good news! Global Health EDCTP3 overall budget increases to €1.86 billion! On 24 May, the European Commission approved an increase of the EU financial contribution to #GlobalHealthEDCTP3 of €110 million. 🔹 This raises the overall EU financial contribution to the programme to up to €910 million. 🔹 The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership Association will contribute to the programme with an additional €550 million. 🔹 Efforts are also being made to raise €400 million through third party contributions. Led by MMV and funded by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), the #PAMAfrica consortium is a global partnership consisting of ten public and private sector R&D partners in #Africa and #Europe.   Since its launch in 2020, PAMAfrica partners have been working together to identify next-generation drugs for uncomplicated malaria, develop the first-ever malaria treatment for newborns under 5kg and trial a new non-artemisinin-based compound to treat severe malaria. The consortium also includes a capacity building work package, which is supporting 11 African students aspiring to become the continent’s next generation of scientific leaders.   SwissCore, the Swiss information and liaison office for European policies and programmes in research, innovation and education, recently published an article about PAMAfrica’s role in the global fight against malaria, and how MMV is developing best practices for engaging in global, multi-country research partnerships.   Read the full article on the SwissCore website: bit.ly/3UOCJT6
