We're thrilled to announce a major achievement for the TKI CitySports project: our research has been featured in the prestigious journal Frontiers in Sustainable Cities! This pioneering study demonstrates how artificial turf can help combat climate change effects in urban settings. By incorporating subsurface water storage and capillary irrigation, we've crafted and confirmed a sports system that cools fields and manages rainwater, fostering healthier environments for both the earth and athletes. Key findings: 🌡 Artificial turf can be up to 25 degrees cooler during hot summer days 💧 The field holds four times more water than traditional artificial turf, nearing the water retention capabilities of natural grass 🌱 A heartfelt thank you to TKI Watertechnologie KWR Water Research Institute Permavoid Waternet Veolia Marineterrein Amsterdam for their invaluable contributions!
