𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐩!🎬 The 𝐃𝐍𝐍𝐋 𝐱 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐍𝐋 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐩𝐚𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 held at Amazon NL marked the conclusion of its latest endeavour to add new narrative to the Dutch startup landscape. 🌱 Over the past 12 weeks, DNNL has created a supportive growth environment for a select cohort of entrepreneurs with a migration background. The creation of this group is nothing short of extraordinary. With 262 initial views, 148 application starts, and 41 submissions, our cohort emerged thanks to the help of independent experts as a carefully selected assembly of innovative social entrepreneurs. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 and for Ask Me Anything sessions with founders of diverse backgrounds who have been in their shoes. 🚀 The development of the founders during this time wouldn't have been possible without the genuine commitment of the inspiring trainers & mentors who were there every step of the way and for the constructive feedback from our expert panel members during the final pitch session. 🚀July 5th marked a Demo Day at #DNNL. A day finalizing 3 months of working together with a group of dedicated founders, supported by mentors and coaches from the Dutch New Narrative Lab who had one goal in mind: help the social-impact-driven startups succeed 💪 Ruben Brave, Anahí Páez, Arosha Brouwer – you are one of the kind to put this program together! ‘I saw a loop in the legal system, so started investigating what and who I need to be to fix that loop, and I educated myself to become a lawyer’- words of Mpanzu Bamenga during his opening speech made it clear that this was exactly what brought us all together. You see a pain, lack of support towards it, and have the guts to do something about it. I joined the #DNNL cohort with Mamamoon Health where we are advocating for bridging the gap in women’s health, actively bringing support with the Mamamoon app for women during one of the most vulnerable times of our lives: transition into motherhood, and with Women’s Health Experts addressing every phase of our life, the 3M as we call it: Menstruation, Motherhood, and Menopause. ‘Your product addresses 50% of the global population, it’s not a niche, I love it!’ - thank you, Farshida Zafar! And thank you to all coaches and fellow startups for putting your whole heart into the program. Ready to Take Bigger Steps! On the 5th of July, we celebrated the end of an intense 12-week journey in the Dutch New Narrative Lab (DNNL) Launchpad program hosted at Amazon. This journey was made possible by Social Enterprise NL and Google. This incredible experience has been truly transformative for my personal and entrepreneurial development and allowed us to develop and reshape SHEXON for the better. DNNL Launchpad program focuses on empowering underrepresented social entrepreneurs with a migration background, helping them tackle their unique challenges in the Dutch startup landscape. I am immensely grateful to Ruben Brave, a successful serial entrepreneur and true role model, and to Arosha Brouwer our lead mentor, whose unwavering support was invaluable throughout this journey. ✨Dutch New Narrative Lab - Rewriting the narrative in the Dutch start-up ecosystem On July 5th, I had the incredible opportunity to pitch my startup, Life of Gini, at the DNNL Demo Day hosted at Amazon Amsterdam. It was an exhilarating experience to present to such a diverse and unique audience! People do not get to choose where they are born and raised, how they look and what privileges or inequalities they experience. Overlooked entrepreneurs do not have an easy path; it takes hard work, resilience and countless rejections. We definitely have the ambition and drive but lack the chance of equal opportunities and social capital. DNNL has truly created something special! The 'new narrative' is definitely being written for the Dutch start-up ecosystem! I can't wait to see representation in all layers. I got the honour to be part of the social impact launchpad and gained amazing new skills, knowledge and social capital because of DNNL. I am forever grateful for this! A huge thank you to Ruben Brave, Arosha Brouwer and Anahí Páez for making this journey possible and to the DNNL's fantastic partners at Social Enterprise NL, Google, Ministerie van Economische Zaken and all others who made this possible. What's next? Entrepreneurship is often a lonely journey, but DNNL has given me a tribe to share it with.
