Many new products were developed, starting with the radio and Philips became a concern of many companies. The fact that all these companies were part of Philips, gave technologists the opportunity to cooperate and exchange knowledge. Development engineers all over Philips often came together to inspire each other; as well as mechanization specialists did. The high level of development made Philips a company of world-wide impact. From the 80’s on parts of Philips became independent companies but the sense of cooperation remained. A nice example is the accurate hydraulic actuator. It was developped for the production of the read-and-write heads of the videorecorder in the 70’s. It actuated the first waferstage of ASML in the 80’s. Later it actuated shaving heads production and today the production of contact lenses. #philips #production #mechanization #ecosystem #hightechsector #hightechnology

𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐤 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞: 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 The article is written by Yolanda Villanueva-Palero (physics engineer) and Niels Leibbrandt (head of marketing) of Fastmicro. This hightech firm has developed a Particle Fallout Scanner (PFS) that can continuously monitor particles falling onto a target surface. Particle #contamination monitoring and #cleanliness control are fundamental to #micromanufacturing processes across diverse industries to achieve cost-effective production of high-quality and reliable #microscale devices and components. However, practice learns that producing in an ISO class #cleanroom does not automatically guarantee a clean manufacturing process or product. By implementing cleanroom environments in combination with continuous #particledeposition monitoring, #manufacturers can design closed-loop clean process validation and process improvement procedures to prevent #particle defects that lead to yield losses. This article introduces technology for cleanroom validation and qualification on the workspace where it really matters, using a Particle Fallout Scanner (PFS) that continuously measures particles falling onto critical target surfaces. The PFS is based on darkfield #scattering #metrology, a specialised #optical technique used for #particledetection and surface #characterisation, particularly in environments where high sensitivity to small particles is required. Event report in Mikroniek: Clean Event and Manufacturing Technology Conference In mid-April 2024, the second edition of the Manufacturing Technology Conference and the fifth edition of the Clean Event were held together, for the first time, at the Koningshof in Veldhoven (NL). Currently, developing a high-quality product involves ever more requirements, complex steps and challenges during the production process, ranging from determining the most suitable manufacturing technique to complying with cleanliness requirements. In order to offer companies better insight into and control over these challenges, the two events joined forces. This Mikroniek article gives a report, including presentations from Stefano Sgobba (CERN), Steffijn de Koning (ASML) and other experts active in and for the hightech industry, including the field of #additivemanufacturing. The annual #CleanEvent, organised by Mikrocentrum, focuses on the control of #cleanliness and #contamination through the entire #manufacturing process, smart product design that facilitates cleanliness, and mitigation of contamination risks during the assembly and packaging processes. This year, the fifth edition featured 70 exhibitors and attracted some 800 visitors. More info: https://lnkd.in/e2bCddRv The Manufacturing Technology Conference 2024 brings together #engineers from the design and manufacturing industry to share knowledge about #manufacturability. Its aim is to increase developers’ relevant knowledge and to help them look for possibilities that were previously unknown to them. The conference is organised by the Knowledge Sharing Centre, represented by ASML and Thermo Fisher Scientific, in collaboration with Mikrocentrum. Note: At the conference, it was announced Knowledge Sharing Centre (KSC) will now be known as the Manufacturing Knowledge Centre. Daardoor is'tie nóg nauwkeuriger.
