Building the Future of Freight, more Charging Stations for the electric trucks ⚡ 🚛
DFDS has taken another step in its decarbonization journey in the Netherlands by installing DC (fast charging) hardware for electric trucks at its Vlaardingen Terminal 🚢.
Since January, DFDS has operated two Volvo FH-E electric trucks from Vlaardingen, serving customers around the port of Rotterdam and extending into Germany and Belgium. The new DC chargers will enhance efficiency by enabling quick recharges before trips and will connect the Rotterdam port area with DFDS’s warehouse in Wijchen.
The charging hardware, provided by Kempower, was installed and commissioned by Kenter. The system includes a 300kW power unit with two charging outlets, capable of charging two trucks simultaneously. The terminal's electrical circuit was also upgraded to support further electrification.
DFDS boasts the largest fleet of electric heavy-duty trucks in Europe. Our goal is to have 25% of our fleet electrified by 2030. Achieving this vision will necessitate collaboration within the industry, infrastructure partners, and governments 🤝
