𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗 | 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘅 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 🔥  The third stap in the lost wax casting process is cleaning and rinsing the wax trees. There is always a possibility that there is some contamination on the wax tree. Obviously, we do not want this.     The surface of the wax tree is cleaned quite simply. A robot immerses the wax tree in the first cleaning vessel, which contains isopropanol. This is a powerful solvent, degreaser, cleaner and disinfectant all-in-one.  This product evaporates quickly and dissolves grease well.     Then the robot dips the wax tree into the next vessel, which is filled with water. The surface is now completely clean. Since the final product often contains cavities and holes, we also dip our wax trees in an erkantol mixture. This ensures that the deep holes and cavities of the wax model are completely clean so that the ceramic layers take the right shape in the next step.     Our cleaning process is fully automated! #cleaning #lostwaxcasting #investmentcasting #precisioncasting

𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗 | 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘅 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 🔥 The next step in our lost wax casting process is wax model spraying and build a wax tree of the wax models. What does this mean? The mould is automatically filled with liquid wax by use of a wax press. After the wax has been cooled, this doesn’t take long at all, ejectors in the mould push the wax model out. Now a wax model is sprayed which is identical to the final casting. These wax models are glued onto a so-called wax tree with a casting funnel on top. In a later stage of the process, steel or aluminum is poured into the ceramic tree by means of the funnel. In the next step, the wax trees will be cleaned. How we do this? We’ll tell you soon! #lostwaxcasting #investmentcasting #precisioncasting

𝗖𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗫 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗷𝗸, 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 💡🔥 Gemeente Rotterdam is replacing street lighting in Vreewijk to restore the neighbourhood's characteristic streetscape with a new design. The current luminaires in Vreewijk are original to the neighbourhood. However, these luminaires are outdated and in need of replacement.   Spark design & innovation created the design on behalf of the municipality. Together with our engineers, we refined the final product so that it was both feasible to make and deliver for serial production.   The new luminaires are modern but still fit within the Vreewijk streetscape. It’s a perfect blend between old and new. The characteristic light fittings from 100 years ago can now be seen in the streetscape, but fitted with energy-efficient LED lighting.   #lostwaxcasting #investmentcasting #precisioncasting

𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗 | 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘅 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 🔥 The first step in our casting process is mould engineering and fabrication of it, commonly referred to as a wax tool. What does this mean in practice?   Determining the right mould is essential. A mould is a hollow injection mould, which is filled with liquid wax. The hollow injection mould has the shape of the product a customer requires and serves as a negative of the final casting.   The process starts with the customer having a design. Often this is a 3D model. This can be a visible part or a functional part, hidden in a finished product. We design the mould in-house according to the shape of the product. A customer's design is always delivered to our engineering team. They look at how complete the file already is. Depending on the customer's knowledge and experience, our engineers can immediately draw a mould based upon this or make adjustments when needed. Our team is happy to advise and guide you through the process of the necessary adjustments to finalize the right product design.   Once the customer's final design file is approved, our engineer draws the mould around the design. There is always an injection side and an emission side, so the product has to be split up. What is on one side of the mould and what is on the other?   Moulds can be made from aluminum or steel. An accurate mould is decisive, so the desired tolerances and low surface roughness can be achieved. Depending on the size of the series, the mould is installed either onto a manual or automated press. #lostwaxcasting #investmentcasting #precisioncasting

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘅 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴? 🔥 Ever wondered how industrial components are made with such precision and detail?  🤔   Lost wax casting, also known as investment casting or precision casting, is a technique used in manufacturing complex and detailed metal components. It's one of the oldest known metal-forming techniques and has been used for thousands of years. CIREX is one of the largest and oldest foundries in the world that uses this casting method. High quality investment castings are produced with complex shapes and high dimensional accuracy. Lost wax casting is a technique in which molten metal is poured into a wax model. Following the creation of the product, the wax model is melted and drained away. Lost wax casting has become a pillar of industrial innovation, facilitating the production of components that push the boundaries of performance and functionality. From aerospace and automotive applications to medical equipment and machinery, the diversity of this method has little to no limitations. Its ability to deliver complex geometries, tight tolerances and excellent surface finishes has placed it at the forefront of advanced manufacturing techniques. At CIREX, we work through this process in roughly 11 steps. Are you curious about these steps?
