Over ons

Since September 2001 CIEP contributes to the public debate on international political and economic developments in the energy sector (oil, gas and electricity) and energy-related climate change issues and energy transition. CIEP contributions include research, events, publications, comments, lectures and training. CIEP’s current research and activities revolve around the issues of the geo-political and geo-economic consequences of changing supply and demand patterns in energy, in particular oil and natural gas and renewable energy carriers, and the development of European energy markets and energy policy-making against the background of international energy market developments and energy transition. CIEP offers on-demand training modules covering a wide range of international energy issues, customised to particular needs and interests.

Publication alert! https://lnkd.in/ePAXsTYu CIEP recently published a paper titled ‘Getting Ready to Take Stock of the Global Energy Transition’ written by Susann Handke, PhD, LLM. This study discusses the global stocktake in light of the 2022 energy crisis and recent uncertainties that result from multiple geopolitical upheavals. The purpose of this study is twofold. First, the paper provides an overview of the dynamics of the climate negotiations ahead of the global stocktake and major parties’ energy policies, focusing on China, the United States, the EU, and India. Second, it investigates how the Paris Agreement’s stocktake can evolve into a repetitive exercise that facilitates exchange about the future of the international energy system. In short, an excellent read ahead of COP28!
