With just 4 weeks left before we head to South Africa, we're in full swing testing our stunning solar car. Our technical checks are becoming more efficient, our strategy is razor-sharp, and the motor is running smoothly. We're witnessing our team transform from a development team into a high-performance race team. During our test days, we're simulating the conditions we'll face in South Africa, such as navigating potholes, avoiding red lights, dealing with unexpected animals on the road, and constantly monitoring the weather. Heading to South Africa in 5 weeks – “Uitzwaai borrel” Yesterday, we said farewell to our partners who have helped us this year and will continue to support us during the race. It was an incredible evening full of inspiration and collaboration, celebrating the strength of our partnerships.    - In exactly 35 days, 17 hours, and 24 minutes, we will be heading to South Africa to prepare for the Sasol Solar Challenge, taking place from September 13th to 20th. This adventure marks a crucial moment for us, where months of hard work and dedication come together. - We began the evening with a detailed explanation of the strategy we have been working on for a year to race as efficiently as possible. Following this, Marc Lammers spoke about his coaching and how we are developing into a high-performance racing team. This valuable knowledge will be carried forward by our team and applied to future challenges. As the highlight of the evening, our partners had the opportunity to see Nuna 12s in action at Circuit Zandvoort. This spectacular moment was made possible thanks to Menno Weeda and Niels Verhoog, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks. Seeing Nuna 12s in action was a glimpse of what's to come in South Africa! Every year, we unveil our new solar car in a unique way. This year, we decided to showcase Delft’s pride by intertwining our story with the timeless beauty of Delft Blue. Picture this: the stunning landscapes of South Africa, majestic wildlife, and the iconic Big 5, representing the core values of our team: 🦁 Leadership (Lion) 🐘 Wisdom (Elephant) 🐃 Invincibility (Buffalo) 🐆 Speed (Leopard) 🦏 Strength (Rhinoceros) The Big 5 also signifies our milestone of heading to South Africa for the 5th time! This weekend, we showcased our Nuna 11s at the Historic Grand Prix in Zandvoort! 🏁 It’s fantastic to see how fast technological advancements are progressing: from roaring engines to a whisper-quiet car powered by solar energy. 🌞 What an amazing weekend with so many car enthusiasts! We’ve never had so many interesting questions, even from our youngest fans! We also met up with former NUNA teammates who are still part of the Nuna family. And, of course, we couldn’t resist taking a photo with the cheerful Bluey! 📸 Thanks to Air France KLM Martinair Cargo our Nuna 12s will safely travel to South Africa. De zonneauto beschikt over de zelf ontwikkelde motor XII-S met twee magneetringen. Door deze innovatieve aandrijving heeft de auto meer vermogen en kunnen kilometers efficiënter worden afgelegd. Met Nuna 12S strijdt het team van elf TU Delft-studenten van 13 tot 20 september voor de wereldtitel tijdens de Sasol Solar Challenge in Zuid-Afrika.

The wrap of Nuna 12s was designed in collaboration with Clément Heinen. Since Nuna 9s, Clement has been helping to transform the team’s story and ideas into stunning illustrations on our Nuna's This year, we will defend our four-time title in the Sasol Solar Challenge. The Big Five refers to our potential fifth title in South Africa, our ‘fifth ring’ in Olympic terms. The five animals symbolize specific qualities found within the team: Lion: Leadership; Elephant: Intelligence; Rhino: Resilience; Buffalo: Invincibility; Leopard: Speed. The illustration is depicted in Delft blue colours, referencing our TU Delft background, so we take a bit of home with us to South Africa!
