Dat merken inzamelaars/sorteerders als Sympany, Leger des Heils ReShare en Boer Group. 👗 Hoe hun aanvoer er tegenwoordig uitziet? Bakken vol met shirtjes en truitjes van polyester. Waardeloos spul, letterlijk. Met een beetje geluk kunnen de kledingstukken (laagwaardig) worden hergebruikt. Zo niet, dan wacht de verbrandingsoven. Het gaat niet goed met de textielrecycling-industrie in Nederland. Dat komt niet alleen doordat de kwaliteit van wat er binnenkomt keldert, maar ook omdat er wereldwijd voor minder interesse is voor het spul dat wel verkocht kan worden. ♻ Gevolg? In een jaar is de prijs van gesorteerde tweedehands kleding met 30 procent gedaald. Daardoor is het verdienmodel in korte tijd enorm onder druk komen te staan. Voor MT/Sprout dook ik in de problematiek en vooral ook in de vraag: hoe pakt de sector de regie terug? Want voor een circulaire economie in 2050, hebben we deze industrie absoluut nodig. From a profitable market in 2022 to a loss-making one in 2023. That's the main takeaway from the study conducted by Rebel on behalf of the Vereniging Herwinning Textiel (VHT), examining the costs and revenues at the back end of the textile chain. For some time, players in the collection, sorting, and recycling of discarded textiles have been struggling with poor market conditions and the absence of a viable business model for their activities. This is now confirmed by the Rebel report. Persistently rising labor costs, along with energy and storage expenses, combined with declining revenues, are putting immense pressure on the sector that facilitates the reuse of discarded textiles. As a result, collection, sorting, and recycling capacity is at risk of decreasing rather than increasing. It's high time for a fundamental change in the system. Clothing dumping from China harms recycling ♻. Boer Group, Vereniging Herwinning Textiel (VHT), MVO Nederland and MEP Lara Wolters report issues due to dumped ultra-fast fashion clothing, especially from SHEIN .
