During the pandemic, merger and acquisition (M&A) activity skyrocketed in the bicycle industry followed by a dip last year as investor interest waned. However, according to a new report by Houlihan Lokey “As the bike industry recovers and professionalises, creating higher EBITDA margins and healthier cash flows, it will also become more attractive to PE firms again." ➡️ Read the full report: 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌&𝐀 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲, 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐬 - https://lnkd.in/giit_WnY

Approximately 3,500 #fatbikes have been seized by Dutch authorities due to not meeting the legal requirements of an e-bike. The popularity of fatbikes in The Netherlands, combined with the large supply of cheap models and spotlight on (near-)accidents, has prompted the authorities to step up investigations into the origins of these two-wheelers. https://lnkd.in/e_M64_vn

⚖️ The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is stepping up investigations into possible customs fraud on importing #ebikes (parts) from China... One question in the current #antidumping legislation is whether there is a way to import components for e-bikes which will not be considered complete e-bikes? https://lnkd.in/eBJP4EtE

EUROBIKE Show was a good opportunity to gauge what product development is still continuing in the #bicycle industry. Dutch bicycle designer Peter van der Veer was there to reflect on the latest trends in design and form. A key take-away was that #ebikes are no longer homogeneous and that the range per target group and use-case is growing. https://lnkd.in/dxn_iWd3

As EUROBIKE Show closes its doors, Bike Europe editor-in-chief Jan-Willem Van Schaik reflects on the impact of the tradeshow this year. In short, there are indications of a positive development in the long term for the e-bike and eco-mobility sectors, but the highly hoped-for market improvement in the short term is not in sight yet. ➡️ Read the Eurobike review on Bike Europe: '𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭' 🔗 [Free access for 72 hours]: https://lnkd.in/eNZHVUsy

Where 600,000-700,000 units would be the regular #inventory level in Germany, this rose to 1.45 million units in 2023. However, Burkhard Stork of ZIV – German Bicycle Industry warns about the current narrative in the industry. “This doesn’t mean that the bicycle industry will not produce bikes this year as some general media recently reported. Some even wrote there is enough inventory for the next few years. This is nonsense,” he said during his presentation at EUROBIKE Show. #bikemarket #eurobike #ziv https://lnkd.in/epgUuMC7
