In addition to car recycling, car battery recycling is also becoming increasingly important in the Netherlands. Last year, a useful application rate of 63.6% was achieved for discarded drive batteries from electric cars. This is well above the recycling obligation of 50% of the weight of lithium-ion batteries. More facts, figures, and insights about car and car battery recycling can be found in our 2023 sustainability report, "Over Thirty Years of Development and Refinement." https://lnkd.in/epaj9HmB ARN, Janet Kes, Martijn Boelhouwer #car #battery #recycling

𝗚𝗧𝗗-𝗘 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝘂𝗴𝗲 - 𝗣𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Last week, Battery Competence Cluster NL (BCC-NL), along with other Green Transport Delta - Electrification (GTD-E) project partners, convened for a project day at Airport Teuge, near Apeldoorn. NRG2fly and DEAC Dutch Electric Aviation Centre Teuge hosted this impactful event. Highlights of the day included a fascinating tour by NRG2fly, showcasing their groundbreaking mobile charging solutions. Additionally, the E-Flight Academy presented their innovative ‘Flying on the Sun’ concept. Several GTD-E members even had the chance to experience electric flights, which stood out for their quiet operation and improved fuel efficiency, despite current range limitations. The event also featured a workshop on the business case for airport electric aviation and the necessary steps to scale up electric flying. Discussions explored the potential for a new aviation-focused project, and attendees benefited from ample networking opportunities, bringing together approximately 40 industry experts, government representatives, academics, and airport officials. A comprehensive tour of the airport’s infrastructure provided insights into the operational requirements of electric aviation and the support needed to sustain it. The event underscored the promise of sustainable aviation while highlighting challenges such as infrastructure development and legislative support. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration between various transport modalities, including road and air, was identified as crucial for accelerating innovation. Overall, the GTD-E project day marked a significant milestone towards achieving the goal of electric aviation, with essential first steps being taken to address upcoming challenges.
