#NIRS allows scientists to gain insights into the brain & body functions without the need for invasive techniques, making it a more ethical choice, e.g. in animal studies. Some of the most fascinating studies have used our devices to understand animal physiology and behavior, helping us learn from nature’s most remarkable creatures✨ For example, did you know scientists have studied free-diving seals using our devices to explore how they conserve oxygen? By learning from seals, we’re discovering new ways to push human boundaries in underwater exploration🦭 Check out more groundbreaking animal studies using our NIRS devices: 🐑 Can fNIRS give us reliable insights into sheep brain activity? Read more: https://lnkd.in/gvVnXBr5 Explore how fNIRS is shedding light on sheep brain function and behavior! 👶🐑 Fetal oxygenation measurement using wireless near-infrared spectroscopy Read more: https://lnkd.in/gWBpYTRv Researchers used the PortaMon to monitor sheep fetuses, enhancing our understanding of fetal oxygenation. 🦭 Seals under Anaesthesia: fNIRS as a Physiological Monitoring Tool Read more: https://lnkd.in/gMDspzn9 Our PortaLite is being used to track brain function in seals, even during anesthesia. 🦭 PortaLite on Seals Read more: https://lnkd.in/gzSzsp5h This study examined seals' physiological responses and how they help humans understand free diving. 🐖 Detection of Hypoxia with NIRS in Pigs Read more: https://lnkd.in/gSWif-MU In this comparative study, our PortaMon helped detect hypoxia in pigs, offering valuable insights for both animal and human health. 🐒 Brain Activation in Monkeys (Papio Anubis) Read more: https://lnkd.in/gUP_THEU Using PortaLite, researchers measured brain activity lateralization in monkeys to understand how motor and auditory stimulation affects brain function. At Artinis, we're proud to support non-invasive, animal-friendly research. Join us in celebrating World Animal Day by recognizing the incredible ways animals contribute to science and how we can conduct research in a way that is respectful, non-invasive, and beneficial to both animals and humans alike! 🌍💚 #WorldAnimalDay #AnimalFriendlyResearch #fNIRS

At the #mNIRS2024, we hosted a dynamic workshop with Train.Red, showcasing how easy it is to achieve the complete picture of oxygenation during exercise, unlocking endless research possibilities! Here’s what went down: 🟡 A deep dive into muscle oxygenation science with Artinis, exploring the latest in muscle #NIRS research and devices. 🔵 During a maximal incremental bike test, we used the PortaLite MKII to measure brain (PFC) and muscle (right vastus lateralis) oxygenation, while Train.Red’s FYER monitored the left vastus lateralis. The synchronized data revealed rhythmic muscle patterns and a clear heartbeat in brain oxygenation—proving high-quality (f)NIRS data, even during intense exercise! 🔴 Train.Red showed how their app can elevate daily training with muscle oxygen insights. 🟡 A hands-on practical session where attendees experienced the power of these technologies firsthand. Together, Artinis & Train.Red demonstrated how effortlessly you can capture the full spectrum of brain and muscle oxygenation—perfect for advancing sports science, health, and performance research!💪 #fNIRS #MuscleOxygen #IncrementalTest #SportsScience #ExercisePhysiology

New research highlights how post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) affect a significant number of patients, leading to symptoms such as fatigue and exercise intolerance. In their recent study, Colosio et al. investigated the underlying causes of these issues, focusing on the structural and functional impairments in skeletal muscle. Using the PortaLite NIRS device, they offer new insights into muscle health post-COVID, helping to better understand and address the long-term effects of the virus. 🔗 Explore the full findings here: https://lnkd.in/g424fgxd #MuscleResearch #PortaLite #LongCOVID #Physiology Simone Porcelli Marta Colosio

mNIRS 2024 was a blast! A two-day conference dedicated to the technology behind our sensors, filled with interesting presentations, actionable workshops, and hands-on experience. A collaborative success between the industry and academia! We learned a lot and are excited to see where the technology is headed. Together with Artinis Medical Systems we presented: 🔬 A Scientific Deep Dive into Muscle Oxygen Bauke Wiersma shared his knowledge and best practices regarding using muscle oxygen sensors in research. We took a sneak peek at the mind-muscle connection! 📈 Science behind Incremental Exercise Testing Wout Kregting gave it his all on the @wattbike and now knows exactly what his endurance capacity is, as well as his sprinting ability. 🏋️ Elevate your Day-to-Day Training with Muscle Oxygen Thierry Willigenburg translated the data we collected during the incremental exercise test into training do’s and don’ts for the coaches and athletes. 💡 Hands-on Practical Session with the Devices Everybody got involved and experienced the latest developments and features from Artinis and Train.Red. Although this was the very first scientific conference truly dedicated to muscle oxygen and its applications, we’re already looking forward to the next edition! #nirs #mnirs #science #muscleoxygen #smo2
