Camera trapping data on GBIF: Our three datasets are the first camera trap data shared on GBIF using the newly developed Camtrap DP (data exchange format for camera trap data) and the new publishing software package (version 3 of the Integrated Publishing Toolkit, #IPT) from GBIF. This extends the data publishing capabilities on GBIF beyond the Darwin Core Archive format to share data obtained from digital biodiversity sensors. Great to see on the GBIF platform all the occurrences together with the digital evidence (images) and all metadata of each data record in a machine- and human-readable #FAIR format! We're looking for (Dutch speaking) volunteers to help us chart the biodiversity of Noord-Brabant. We offer an exciting working environment, training in identifying insects at order level (if you need it), of a fun team and free entrance to the Naturalis museum. Find out more:

Samples are coming in faster than ever, so we have a job opening for a research analist. You will be stationed at Naturalis Biodiversity Center. Speaking Dutch is a requirement.

Last week, we installed a number of insect traps in the Leenderbos and Groote Heide nature reserves. Together with Staatsbosbeheer we'll be monitoring the effects of different nature management decisions. Of course, any species collected that are not yet in our national DNA barcode reference library will be sequenced and added to it. https://lnkd.in/eBtwcDg2

On May 22nd, World Biodiversity Day, NWO (Dutch Research Council) hosts NWO Life, a conference for everyone working in the the Dutch Life Sciences. That means, of course, that we will be there as well. Drop by to learn more about how we go from sample to sequence! Of course, that means you have to register first. Registration closes this Tuesday, so don't forget it!

Our sampling tool ADA has been updated. It can now be used to sample plants as well, and it's better at scanning QR codes. It should even work if you've already put your code into a tube with alcohol.

On May 22nd, our friends at NWO (Dutch Research Council) are organizing Life2024, a place for all life scientists in the Netherlands to meet and learn.
