At APM Terminals, we know that increasing port capacity creates opportunities not only for established businesses in Africa to be part of global trade, but for small business to grow. Efficient port infrastructure, operated by an experienced terminal company creates not only fulfilling jobs and secondary employment, but the conditions for entrepreneurship and growth to thrive. That's the message delivered by our Africa and Europe Regional Managing Director, Igor van den Essen at the Global Africa Business Initiative in New York. #GABI2024 #UnstoppableAfrica #globaltrade #GlobalTradeExperts

🚢⚓The nautical know-how, the knots of speed. The ties that bond us, safe and secure.  As we approach this World Maritime Day, thousands of vessels will approach our port terminals and harbours, safe in the knowledge that we care: not only for our customers and their cargo, but for the crews that join with our own to Lift Global Trade. At every port, at every call, we keep things ‘ship shape’ and safe, above all.     With deep respect and gratitude for the work of mariners on the International Maritime Organization World Maritime Day 2024. Navigating the future: Safety first.  From your teams, at APM Terminals. ⚓ 🚢    #WorldMaritimeDay2024 #SafetyFirst #PortSafety #SeafarerLife

Empowered and strong, that's how our colleague, Ania Blackwood Mc Lean, feels. But as a child growing up, she remembers unwelcome remarks about her statuesque height, and her skin colour. “I am very proud of my culture, and of what my skin represents,” she says. “But it was difficult at times to 'brush off’ stereotypical comments or groundless slurs." Ania feels more enabled to raise her voice now and is happy to work with a company that promotes inclusion. Ania, who works as a Communication Specialist at APM Terminals Moin, Limón, Costa Rica, spends much of her non-working time as an advocate of Caribbean culture. “My parents, Don Rigoberto and Doña Ana, gave myself and my siblings a wonderful upbringing, which helped me to overcome the setbacks and 'closed doors’ when I first looked for a job straight from college,” she says. At the time, opportunities in Limón were limited, and so she took work in the capital, San José, which did not always match her professional qualifications and abilities. It was always her hope to return to Limón where, five years ago, APM Terminals first opened its doors, providing meaningful employment for 600 colleagues. “I feel very fulfilled in my professional life,” she says. “I'm supported to achieve more, in a company that takes diversity and inclusion seriously.” Find out more about the work we do at APM Terminals here: https://lnkd.in/eFexaCeG If you'd like to work with us, check out our current vacancies: https://lnkd.in/e-KeKQvZ #diversity #inclusion

The first direct service between the Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Kilaraipur, Ludhiana, to Pipavav Port is now firmly on the rails, having begun daily transits since last week. The collaboration with Adani Logistics Ltd further lifts the standards of connectivity for India’s intermodal capabilities through high-speed, high-capacity Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs). The rake service, with direct connection to the port over a 1,425 kms track, will help streamline transit times to and from APM Terminals Pipavav, lifting the standard of cargo efficiency in the region. The route adds to an already ample export rake offer from Pipavav to and from key Inland Container Depots (ICDs) for daily/alternate day rail outs, either direct or through Hub terminals. #LogisticsInnovation #SupplyChainExcellence #CargoMovement #PipavavPort #AdaniLogistics #SeamlessLogistics #InfrastructureGrowth #IndiaLogistics #SustainableLogistics

“More than a port” – that’s the verdict from customers, partners, and stakeholders in describing the Port of Salalah. Ideally located in the northern part of the Indian Ocean, in the Arabian Sea, its infrastructure, people, and solutions make it a true intermodal point of connectivity on the crossroads of Middle East, Africa and the rest of the World. Which is why it’s proving a popular draw at the Saudi Maritime & Logistics Congress. Today and tomorrow, conference goers from around the world will get a peak into why the Port of Salalah holds the key to unlocking tomorrow's business potential today. Did you know, the Port of Salalah: ⚓ Is the second most efficient terminal in the world according to the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) ranking. ⚓ Is the largest of Oman’s deep water ports. ⚓ Boasts an excellent integrated supply chain ecosystem which encompasses the Port, Free Zone and Airport. 🛬🚢🛣️ All the more reason for you to visit us at the Saudi Maritime Logistics Congress, Damman, Saudi Arabia, Sept 18-19. #networking #Damman #saudimaritime #logisticscongress #maritimeindustry #shippingindustry #portterminal #intermodal

Customer collaboration has 'forged' stronger partnership with a major aluminium smelting company through a two-day deep dive workshop initiated by APM Terminals Bahrain. The meeting of minds 'ironed out' glitches in the container stuffing process to vastly reduce the potential for damage to the metal cargo, while also eliminating damage to containers from the aluminium billets – an essential component in the construction industry for windows and door frames, transportation, engineering, and consumer durables. Aluminium Bahrain - the world's leading smelting company, and second only to China in terms of exports - entrusts all its finished products for handling and export by APM Terminals Bahrain, operator of the Khalifa Bin Salman Port. With production capacity of nearly 550,000 metric tonnes per annum, Alba's coke calciner plant ensures strict quality control is maintained at every stage of the production process. And with a commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, APM Terminals can relate to its customers’ emphasis on continuous improvement through its adoption of lean business practices – which includes the removal of waste and the enhancement of efficiency. The workshop enabled the two companies to identify various opportunities to optimise processes, improve customer communication and much-reduce the potential for damage to cargo and containers prior to, and during the container stuffing process. The customer gained value, enabling it to compete more effectively with major aluminium smelters in Gulf Cooperation Council countries. APM Terminals Bahrain Managing Director, Matthew (Matt) Luckhurst, said such activations "demonstrate our commitment to working closely with our customers and the community to drive continuous improvement across the entire supply chain and lift Bahrain’s global trade.“ Read more: https://bit.ly/3TdzcOq

It's a product so beloved that it's been given its very own day. International Chocolate Day, celebrated today, gives us a great excuse not only to reach for a candy bar, but to thank our APM Terminals colleagues in Côte d’Ivoire, for the vital role they play in the supply chain. APM Terminals stevedores handle 0.3 million tons of the popular bean every year – which in no small part contributes to the West African country's economy as a whole. In the port of San Pedro, a world leader for the exportation of cocao beans, APM Terminals stevedore approximately 35% of the entire cocoa market share. Our growth ambitions are taking industry standards to another dimension. These four new Super Post Panamax cranes, being delivered to APM Terminals Elizabeth, at the Port of New York & New Jersey, are just one manifestation of our goal to lift the standards of efficiency throughout our 60 terminals.       The cranes, due to arrive early November, are part of a major upgrade at APM Terminals Elizabeth, and provide our customers with the assurance that we can handle even the very largest of container vessels. Featuring advanced control systems and enhanced lifting capabilities, they'll pair nicely with the top-tier expertise of our talented US teams.       Designed with a 23-container outreach, the new cranes are capable of accommodating both Neo-Panamax and Ultra-Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) with capacities of up to 18,000 twenty-foot-equivalent containers (TEUs) and mark the culmination of crane orders made as part of a USD200M expansion project, initiated in 2018.     Said Henrik Kristensen, APM Terminals Managing Director Americas, “The arrival of another batch of the Super Post Panamax cranes is exciting news, and just the latest in the significant investment upgrade which boosts our ability to serve our customers and accelerate their supply chains.”  #Growth #APMTerminalsElizabeth #Supplychains
