More efficiency. More capacity. More power to Port of Salalah.   The Port of Salalah has welcomed the arrival of four hybrid cranes designed to improve cargo handling efficiency. The new hybrid Rubber Tyred Gantry (hRTG) cranes join 24 other cranes at Port of Salalah, including fully electric Ship to Shore assets.   The Port of Salalah is an increasingly attractive option for shipping lines as an alternative to routing via the Cape of Good Hope. With air, land and sea intermodal connectivity, it offers fast, efficient and flexible solutions, paired with facilities such as a Free Zone and airport. In addition, it has consistently retained its ranking as the second most efficient container port in the world by the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI).   More information here: https://lnkd.in/eG99sT4K

For APM Terminals, #TOCAmericas is all about building ideas, strengthening connections and taking action together to lift standards in the region's port industry. On the topic of lifting standards of efficiency, APM Terminals’ Head of Asset Management for the Americas, Neidyr Cury, talked about APM Terminals transforming asset management into lean, safe and optimized equipment utilization – resulting in cost reductions and productivity boosts. Marliz M. Bermudez Richard – APM Terminals’ Director of Investments for the Americas – highlighted potential in Latin America for growth and for lifting standards of local prosperity. She singled out APM Terminals’ efforts in Lázaro Cárdenas in Mexico and the Port of Moín in Costa Rica as examples of how an experienced and committed operator can (and does) invest heavily in the community, boosting local businesses and contributing to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As a premier gateway and transit hub, Aqaba Container Terminal has served as the logistical and economic backbone supporting both the Jordanian economy and neighboring countries. Therefore, it was a milestone for APM Terminals to have approval to extend the current concession with 15 years reaching until 2046.     “This renewal marks the next steps of our ambitious future plans to upgrade the terminal in Aqaba, Jordan" says APM Terminals' CEO Keith Svendsen and continues: “The extension of the partnership underlines our successful public-private partnership in Jordan and it will help us expand and develop our relationship even further, exploring the opportunities in creating a green corridor connecting the supply chains of Jordan, while at the same time it is a central value for APM Terminals to develop job opportunities and upskilling of our employees to the benefit of the Kingdom.” More information here: https://lnkd.in/dnMSQpME

The demanding standards which Vado Reefer Terminal has set itself are bearing fruit, passing a recent Supplier Accountability Audit with flying colours.    The inspection was conducted by Zespri International, the world’s largest supplier of kiwifruit, which it markets in over 50 countries. It presented the terminal with the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to quality and excellence. Among the rigorous examinations of logistics procedures were assessments of the warehouse structural conditions, services offered and the management of pallets, with particular attention to the constant monitoring of temperatures.     Quality control is a vital part of the work conducted at the Vado Ligure port location. The terminal at the port of Vado Ligure specializes in fruit logistics and offers supply chains to markets in Northern Italy, Southern France, Switzerland, Bavaria and beyond. The Reefer Terminal has been the largest refrigerated terminal in the Mediterranean for more than thirty years and handles 600,000 pallets per year. More information here: https://lnkd.in/ekfZWKQb

🚢⚓The nautical know-how, the knots of speed. The ties that bond us, safe and secure.  As we approach this World Maritime Day, thousands of vessels will approach our port terminals and harbours, safe in the knowledge that we care: not only for our customers and their cargo, but for the crews that join with our own to Lift Global Trade. At every port, at every call, we keep things ‘ship shape’ and safe, above all.     With deep respect and gratitude for the work of mariners on the International Maritime Organization World Maritime Day 2024. Navigating the future: Safety first.  From your teams, at APM Terminals. ⚓ 🚢    #WorldMaritimeDay2024 #SafetyFirst #PortSafety #SeafarerLife
