The 25th #AntiviralPK workshop in Liverpool was fantastic for many reasons. But to me the highlight was Prof David Back giving a magnificent overview of the history of Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool, including 40 years of HIV pharmacology including some important breakthroughs. There are not many people who have been there from the start, and can show their departmental photograph from 50 years ago! It was heartwarming to listen to ad hoc speeches at the social function. We were reminded that 'people are more important than things', that family, faith and friendship matter. I heard many stories of the impact that he has and continues to have on many lives and careers. I am grateful to have benefited from his mentorship for almost 30 years (yes, since I was a teenager) - particularly the way he showcases that faith and science are absolutely not incompatible. What an inspiration and role model!

Regional Medical Affairs Industrial Placement Student at ViiV Healthcare, GSK

Last week, I attended the two-day International Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology of HIV, Hepatitis and Other Antiviral Drugs in Liverpool. On the first day I attended the pre-workshop with equally interesting presentations on Drug-Drug Interaction Management in HIV care. The jam-packed agendas for both workshops allowed a comprehensive understanding of the current data surrounding pharmacokinetics, and I had the chance to listen to truly fascinating presentations from experts in the field. The second day included a PK Symposium, organised by ViiV Healthcare, that gave space for a lively debate surrounding therapeutic drug monitoring. I got the opportunity to observe and assist behind the scenes of this event, within the months leading up to it and on the day itself. Thank you very much to ViiV Healthcare for allowing me to attend this educational two-day course, and to the organisers of the event itself. It was a brilliant opportunity to network with some amazing people, and expand my knowledge within the industry. #ANTIVIRALPK
