🌍✨ Attended the International Workshop on HIV & Pediatrics 2024! ✨🌍 I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the International Workshop on Pediatrics & HIV on July 19-20, 2024. This event brought together experts from around the globe to discuss the latest advancements, challenges, and research in pediatric HIV care. Day 1 Highlights: Session 1: Global Update on Pediatric HIV - Global HIV Overview: Anna Yakusik provided a comprehensive update on HIV in infants, children, adolescents, and women. - European Region Epidemiology: Ali Judd highlighted critical data on HIV and hepatitis among pregnant women and children in Europe. Session 2: Pediatric Care and Treatment - Antiretroviral Drug Resistance: Natella Rakhmanina discussed challenges and management strategies for drug resistance in pediatric patients. - Global Accelerator for Pediatric Formulations: Martina Penazzato shared successes and ongoing challenges in developing pediatric HIV treatments. Oral Abstract Presentations: - Innovative Research: Covered emerging drug resistance, transmission rates, and treatment efficacy in various regions, including Malawi, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Session 3: Comorbidities / Coinfections - Congenital Syphilis Resurgence: Juan Carlos Salazar's presentation was a critical reminder of the need for vigilance in monitoring co-infections. - Clinical Case Presentations: Provided practical insights for clinicians. Day 2 Highlights: Session 4: Prevention of New Pediatric HIV Infections - CAB-LA in Pregnancy: Friday Saidi's talk on implementation and surveillance was enlightening. - Breastfeeding and HIV: Karoline Aebi-Popp discussed evolving guidelines and practices in high-income settings. Debate: A lively and thought-provoking discussion on infant antiretroviral prophylaxis with insights from Jason Brophy and Philippa Musoke. Session 5: Adolescents and Young Adults - Adolescent Care Strategies: Covered innovative testing strategies, long-term treatment outcomes, and the importance of transitioning youth to adult care. This workshop was an invaluable experience, providing a platform to learn about cutting-edge research, engage in critical discussions, and network with professionals dedicated to improving pediatric HIV care. The diverse range of topics and in-depth analyses presented were both enlightening and inspiring. Thank you to all the organizers, speakers, and participants for making this event a tremendous success. The 9th edition of #APACC was finalized just last week in #HongKong!
